Ordering a 2021 E63 Wagon

I spoke to my dealership today. They said ordering for the 2021 E-class opens up this week! Orders won't be delivered until late this year, maybe early next with the Coronavirus slowdown. However, he also said there will likely be a limited build for 2021 because of the slow down. They did not have a DOG yet.

I put my build together and they're going to put me in their first build spot when it opens up.

My Spec: 2021 E63 Wagon
  • Brilliant Blue Magno
  • 20-inch AMG cross-spoke
  • Black interior
  • Carbon fiber trim
  • Black DINAMICA headliner
  • Night package
  • Energizing comfort
  • 3-zone climate
  • Heated rear seats
  • Active multi-contour seats
  • Acoustic comfort package
  • Headup display
  • Driver assistance package
  • Dashcam

Basically - every option you can get.

Won't be here until next year, but its still exciting.

I'd take that news with a grain of salt. The E63 LCI hasn't even officially been announced yet.

No CCB or sport seats? Still time to reconsider!

I would highly consider CCB, it is my biggest regret not getting them.

Hi Michael, wondering why not getting the CCBs are your biggest regret? I briefly considered them, but thought the $9k price was a bit high for the potential benefits. I don't track the car. Does the lighter unsprung weight transfer into better handling, or perhaps a better ride? Would love to hear your thoughts.

CCBs are great. So glad I got them. Biggest + for me is no brake dust. I've never tracked the car but thought I might so opted for them. Do do some canyon carving at the nearby mountains and never had any brake issues.

Hadn't thought about the brake dust advantage...$9k buys a lot of wheel cleaner, LOL! Kidding aside, I do hate the brake dust that accumulates almost immediately after cleaning! I am gonna seal my wheels in Q2 Rim next time I detail them. Hopefully that will repel the dust better.

Several years ago, I found a wheel cleaner (can't recall the brand) that had actual Teflon mixed into the cleaner, and it did a great job of keeping the wheels of my BMW clean. Dust just seemed to slide off them. I guess maybe they lost their agreement with DuPont (owner of Teflon), so they stopped making it. Never found it again.

CCB seems like a expensive extravagance. Its a lot to pay for no brake dust and some mild improvement on handling. Moreover, the stock brakes are pretty awesome.

Sport seats are uncomfortable IMHO. I like the stock AMG seats.

Before all the CCB comments were posted, I wrote “close your eyes, take a deep breath, and spec the CCBs”...but I must have never hit submit. If only for the gold on your brilliant blue, it’d be worth it...but luckily there are many more benefits that have been mentioned. Also, they fill out the wheel just that tiny bit more.

Another suggested addition, that is way cheaper, is adding the soft close doors. It’s really really nice once it becomes second nature...I spec’d it solely because it was my first Mercedes and it seemed like one of those Mercedes things I had to try...But now my wife’s new car has them too because it turns out it’s a pleasure never hearing a door slam at the start or end of a drive.

I purposefully passed on the sport seats and the massage. It annoyed the hell out of me on the test drive but my wife got it for hers.

What is LCI?

For the OP, did you confirm the AMG Drive Unit controls will be on your vehicle? If you order heated steering wheel you won't get the Drive unit buttons.........at least you couldn't on 2020 models.

Did your dealer happen to offer a spec'd 2020 E63?

Well, I disagree on both counts, and it's not really "all the options" then is it?

I'm razing you. When you get this wagon, no matter how you get it equipped, it will put a massive smile on your face. I had steel brakes on the '14 and regretted not getting CCB and driver's assist (sports seat were not avail then). By contrast, I have never regretted opting for those packages on the '19 wagon, and even after 8hr drives the sport seats are comfortable. So some food for thought.

I hope they begin offering the magno blue color for more models.

Good luck getting it by Q1 2021.

CCB owner here too. The complete lack of brake dust is nice. As is the mirror sheen of the discs, and I like the bigger/fatter, bronze calipers. It's a premium but it's relatively rare and desirable option. So rare that they have been limiting build slots. My dealer had to trade a non-CCB allocation for a CCB one. No idea if coronavirus let their supplier catch up but that's the way it was last year.

I second the soft close. I got hooked on it with some earlier S-class cars. I love closing the doors like they're on fine kitchen cabinets.

My #1 option is the 3-D Burmester, but of course that's not available on the wagon.

Damn it! You guys, you're selling me on the CCB now. Eh, whats an extra 9000.

Okay, I am going to add it to the order. Also, I already had soft close doors on the order. Just forgot to put it in my list.

I went back and forth on the Magno Brilliant Blue and the regular Metallic Brilliant Blue. I like the shiny Blue better.

There is a guy in Kentucky who ordered a Magno Blue E63 and its pretty stunning. The dealership posted some pics to their Facebook Page.

I can't wait. Probably not going to see the car until early 2021. But my CLS lease expires in early 2021 so the timing should work out well.

I'd rather have the Brilliant Blue Metallic too. My personal taste is shiny over flat finishes (usually). If it were a off-road monster I'd tend to flat and for an antique truck some rust patina works for me.

Looked through my order to see if there were any other items I'd recommend. The codes and options have changed since 2018 so some things may now be included or bundled with other packages differently than when I ordered mine, plus of course somethings are different on the wagon.

297 Designo Selenite Grey Magno Metalic $3950
B07 AMG Ceramic Compound Braking System $8950
H73 AMG Carbon Fiber Trim $2850
PAF Acoustic Comfort Package $1100
P03 AMG Premium Package $3600 - really a must have
P21 Air Balance cabin air purification and fragrance $350 - wives love it generally, I actually think it is OK too.
RTS 20" AMG Glack Forged Cross-spoke wheels $1700
SPC Special Order $250 - I forget what this was exactly now.
U78 AMG Performance Exhaust System $1250
U80 115V AC power outlet $115
068 Wheel locking bolts $150
070 Chrome door handle inserts $100
293 Rear side airbags (SPC) $420 - I think the SPC here is related to the SPC above, just don't remember now.
313 Sun protection package $380
319 AMG Advance Lighting Package $1500 - with semi brain damaged not so intelligent LEDs compared to non-US models - RANT
413 Panorama Sunroof $1000
432 Active multi-contour front seats with massage $1320
521 AMG Night package $750
61U designo Black dinamica headliner $1600
773 AMG exterior carbon fiber package I $2950
872 Heated rear seats $580 - very popular during the European Delivery trip, don't get as much use in San Diego
883 Soft close doors $550 - very nice when dropping kids off during car pool, no more half closed doors . . .
902 Rapid heating front seats $450.

$140,265 less 5% for European Delivery discount plus some other dealer discounts.

Really struggled with the 3D sound option but in the end had to face life and the fact my hearing is shot so it would be wasted on me.
That, the CF engine cover, the CF trim II package with the CF mirrors and rear spoiler, and the rear heater controls were the only options I didn't get.

Figured the kids would just fight over the rear temp control like they do in the minivan.

Very happy with all my choices and don't really regret anything. Though as mentioned previously I might reconsider adding the CF trim II package, but then again might not. Still waffling on it

HUD?
The $250 special order is so you can get the Acoustic Comfort package.
Panorama Sunroof isn't included on the AMG?

The HUD is an $1100 option.

Pano roof is/was a stand alone option in both the 2020 DOG and current configurator, $1000.

Pano roof is another option I did not get. I live in Oregon, I don't need to look at the sky, its always grey.

When searching for a used one, I passed up quite a few and ended up taking 8 months to find one with sport seats. One of the few things that was a must for me. If you need comfort seats, get a Cadillac

For me it was the fact that I ended up tracking my car and how often I drive it hard when I am with my group of friends on the back road. Just wish I had it so I wouldnt have to deal with brake changes more often per year and the stopping power is much better.

I have the sport seats, and I have driven them in long distances and I personally think they are great but I am also 29 and my friend who is 40 hates them. I would go to a dealer to test them out. Also I got the pano roof, kinda wish I never got it. I rarely have it open and the only time it is open is when I have ladies in the car.
