question about settings . . .

a few days ago I played around with MercedesMe online and I don't believe I made any changes (that I know of) but now every time I get in the car and fire it up, this message appears when I plug in my phone, it didn't before . . . . One thing I noticed, the doors don't lock automatically anymore after my online excursion where prior to that doors always lock when I drove off . . . Where/when/how did I make that change? How can I make that change setting message disappear or control? No clue . . .

I have had this message. It is a North America Maps update for me. I started the car, sat in park and went to software updates let it download. That part didn't take long, but the actual update is only about 2% complete not sure how long it takes

I had the same issue. I went into the settings on the web and turned off Personalization. Thats stopped this message from coming up.

You have applied a profile in personalization. If you have it set to automatically update, it will do that periodically. I just set up a profile this week, didn’t realize I had been using Guest profile previously. When I initially turned on the profile, I had to set up all of my settings from scratch. I think that once you have set up your profile and it has been saved to Mercedes Me Connect, you could import it to other vehicles. I turned off the automatically update setting because it got to be annoying!

I realized where I made the change originally (which was on the MBUX screen), unchecked the automatic update box and it stopped giving me the message 👍

It's been happening to me too. Very annoying. Nothing seems to turn it off.

In COMAND, go to System -> Personalization and uncheck auto sync. This will make them stop. It appears they have a bug that probably fails to remember the last sync timestamp and causes it to wanna do it over and over again. I'm giving them some time to fix it, before I try to turn the auto syncing back on. Not that I'm really changing my profile, or need to sync it to other cars.

Sync is useful if you have COMAND flashed to a new version. That wipes out your favorites and other settings so it's great to be able to resync from the server and restore them. Other than that, not a big deal to have the profile saved in the cloud.

That was my original thought why I set it up and stopped using the default guest profile. Should still hold, because all my settings up to this point are still in the cloud and I could use them to restore the profile if needed. But, there's also the System Backup feature, which backs up more than just the settings and user profile to an SD card or USB stick. I have made such a backup of the entire system and keep it around.

Not sure I'd trust the backup to work across COMAND software versions. Also, I don't have an option under personalization for autosync. Can you take a picture of that screen? We may have different software levels. I had to turn personalization off in the Mercedes Me portal services menu to get it to stop trying to sync over and over.

Interesting. Mine is a 2019 C63S Coupe. I thought they had the same system. Funny thing is that the Mercedes Me portal specifically says in order for the settings to be transferred to the vehicle, the automatic synchronization has to be activated in the COMAND system.

I think I once saw that, but it's now gone. I'm not sure, but I think that I might have once seen the option in COMAND too. All I can think of is that when I had COMAND flashed to a newer version to fix an Android Auto integration bug, things changed. It looks like now, assuming you have the personalization service activated in Mercedes Me, sync is always on. That makes sense. It's just another option for people to mess up. And the manual sync profile command is gone too since the system allegedly keeps everything current. It works great until it goes nuts.

I notice that now that I have the service off at the server side, I get a message "Service not Licensed" when I go the personalization menu in COMAND. I guess this all goes away after 3 years unless you pay for it.

Yes, this is part of the 3 year complimentary services. You can see the current expiration date next to the service.

Have the same message appearing since a week or so........I did not change or create any (new) profile, but use my personal profile for more than a year or so now. Apparantly this concerns COMAND NTG 5*5 only?

Did try to Save and Load manually, but the message did not disappear.

Have the Auto-Sync feature ON, but will check later to change this (als on the web).

Strangely it is NOT possible anymore to turn off (or on) the sync in the ME portal ...........it now shows Main User (me), End date (of the personalization service, 3 years after delivery) and Vehicly Sync (that shows now "--" and can NOT be changed!).

Will later check in the car if it can be disabled there (I know for sure there is a sync setting there, but it might be gone, as other users here also experienced.....).

Under the icons for the services is another link, that says something like "29 of 29 services activated." Click on that. On the Manage Services page, disable Personalization (in the lower right block of services).

Thx, I will try that! (assuming that will not completely wipe the whole profile I made?)

No. It just stops syncing. When you turn it on again (after they hopefully fix the bug) it will start backing up any changes you made.

Thx, in my car apparantly the sync on/off option is (still) available, and that did the job! Let's hope they fix this, but in the mean time I leave it like this.
