Audio Upgrade Suggestions

Just picked up my second 19 E63s. My first one had the 3D sound system, this one just has the stock Burmester system. Does anyone have any suggestions on potential upgrades? I miss how hard the bass would hit mainly.

The E63S Burmester system is pretty good. Going beyond depends on what you're looking for. If you're just looking for some thump thump a addon sub may be all you need. To actually improve the sound (more transparent, better imaging, etc) you're looking at replacing the speakers, likely new amplifiers, DSP, etc. $$$$

The trunk space isn't a big deal. I (and especially my wife) was worried about it, but the woofer only takes up a few inches on the left wall. And the sound is really worth it.

You can buy the Burmester subwoofer enclosure and fit a subwoofer+amplifier behind it if you want to get a subwoofer and keep the oem look

I used the Burmester 3D subwoofer with a Rockford Fosgate amplifier for the rear subwoofer. I had problems when using the original Burmester subwoofer amplifier which is why I used it. It wasn't 'major rewiring' but it was no different to adding a subwoofer to my s3

I bought the subwoofer and the enclosure from Mercedes. I don't remember the part numbers but if you ask to buy the parts they'll have a diagram you can pick the parts from. I think the amplifier I used was a Rockford Fosgate PBR300x2 but I did this 4/5 years ago so I might have forgotten. Read the specs of the speaker before you buy it and then pick the right amplifier, it'll probably be better if you chose an aftermarket subwoofer and just used the Mercedes enclosure tbh.
