Having never seen them in person - I was a bit apprehensive. They look very good - particularly with the night package trim - which I was also concerned about. I am glad I got it. Looks mean.

Yup. In 25+ years of buying German cars I always get sh*t tires on delivery. They won’t last long anyway.

My car finally arrived this morning at the dealer. I'll be picking it up this Thursday. Posting a couple of pictures that the salesman uploaded this AM.

Looking good HB! Did you shop Cary again? Can't believe they are still sticking side markers on 2021 cars! They've been built in to the headlamps lately. Enjoy!

You've seen them light up? Sure look like reflectors to me. My 2020 doesnt have them, what an eye sore, bummer! Ill have to find a way to get rid of those when mine comes. I did a painted insert for a similar reflector on another car years ago.

Nice car otherwise! Everyone seems to be getting the ceramics...makes me feel like I should change my order, but so much $$ and really pretty worthless for normal road use. But they're so sexy, brake ****! You got the right wheels too! 👍🏻

Considering a brake job could be 3K plus....and the fact that CCB's will last 100k it seems like a good deal.

Replacing all 4 steel rotors and pads can be done for about $2k, while a set of CCB pads will run you $2-3k alone. The CCB's might last 100k miles but usually don't and that's if you get there without a stone or errant mechanic chipping/cracking one of the ceramic rotors. Those are about $5k/ea. Finally, down the road when these are used cars, who's going to want a $30-60k used car that needs a $20k brake job? Of course you have the initial $9k cost of the option as well (4 sets of steel brakes right there). They also don't perform any better than the steel brakes, same stopping distances, along with being temperamental when cold and/or wet.

All that being said, CCB's look great, no dust, and reduce unsprung weight, which helps handling a ride a little bit. But they're exorbitantly expensive for very little to no gain in typical daily driving. Even if you're taking it to the track the steel brakes are a better option---ask any Porsche track-day junkie. There's a whole cottage industry providing steel rotor replacements for the Porsche CCB rotors. Certainly some practical matters to consider before checking that box!

Some good points made for sure I recently got a quote from my indy shop for my cls63, for front and rear brakes they quoted me about 3K. That is certainly better than the stealer would take from me.

Pads, rotors and installation of OEM parts for 2K seems a bit a low to me. I’ve had CCBs on a 2016 M5 since new and just got them on my 2021 E63. Yes - the performance is noticeable in daily driving. They stop on a dime. They produce ZERO brake dust. None. They look absolutely amazing. I would never go back to steel rotors. Are they worth the up charge? I think so. Heck - I paid $1000 for a furry headliner.

I have them ordered on my sedan, once I had them there is no going back. I actually shop my cars based on the availability of ceramic brakes.

My first car with CCB'S so I'm expecting to enjoy dust free wheels. I usually keep my cars for about 36000 miles, but the amount of brake dust that I had on my 2018 E63S was just unbelievable! If I had kept my current car, I believe that I would have had to change rotors and pads for about $3.5K really soon. For all of you with black wheels, how long before they looked grungy? I bet about a day.

^^All excellent points. Bottom line: Ceramic brakes are simply a luxury.

Not sure what you mean by a luxury. If you own an E63 the whole car is a luxury. To imply that they are just to look at is off the mark.

If you don’t want CCBs don’t get them. Arguing whether they are worth it or not is purely subjective. To me - they are worth it. To others - maybe not.

True enough. For me, brake dust aside, they’re absolutely pointless on a street car. Some of my cars have had them and others not, but I wouldn’t waste a nickel to order them if steel brakes are available for a given make/model. For a track car, however, it’s a completely different matter.
