Front License Plate Recommendation (Tow Hook/Stowaway)
Has anyone installed a front license plate mount without drilling or have suggestions on particular units to look at? I bought a Platypus Tow Hook mount, but it is blocking the sensor that is right next to the tow hook. Sales person offered to send me an extension arm to help with this, or second option is to blind the sensor (not sure what that means or how its done).
Any suggestions, tips etc. I am hoping to avoid drilling holes in my bumper, but not finding anything that seems to fit the 2021 new front nose.

I have an under the front bumper, motorized plate retractor. No holes drilled, the installer used the existing holes underneath to attach. I leave the plate down, if I get stopped, I say I retracted it for the car wash, and forgot to put it back up, and then do so.

had this on my previous E63S ('14) and enjoyed it. Was a bit tricky at times with angle in regards to sensors but pretty good overall

I currently use sto n sho from https://stonsho.com/mercedes-benz/front-plate-bracket
i posted a thread about it. https://mbworld.org/forums/w213-amg/...-solution.html
its a bit expensive but living in CA I just don’t want to give them a reason to pull me over.

Oregon requires a front plate as well. I just go without. I got stopped once, 8 years ago. I just made up a BS excuse like "oh the dealer forgot to do that, and I don't want to screw up my bumper."
I still got a ticket. But in Oregon we have these "fix it" tickets, where as long as you fix the issue and show proof to the court, they'll dismiss the ticket.
So, I just slapped the plate on the bumper with tape. Took a pic. Got the tix dismissed. Drove home. Took the plate off. :-)
It was a pain, but a smallish price to pay not to ruin the front of the car.

California also has a front plate requirement but I've never run one on the E63 and when I switched the front bumper on my Jeep to add the winch I didn't remount the plate to that.
Have never been stopped. The only issue I ever had was with my F-250 and that was because I backed it into a parking space at the airport lot and they complained about not being able to see the front plate.
I keep the E63s front plate in the trunk mounted to the factory holder. It has two clips that attach to the front bumper plus two holes where it could be screwed in for extra security. The plate holder will attach OK with just the clips and with some double sided tape would probably be just fine. Figure if ever stopped for it I'll say I noticed it was a bit loose so removed it to keep it from falling off and was going to re-mount it when I got home.
Might or might not work, but worth a try. If not, a fix-it ticket is no big deal.

Mid-City Engineering midcityengineering.com has a bunch of MB enthusiasts that invent all kinds of cool “upgrades” for Benzes and some others. They have a retractable front plate that looks very cool. I’m looking into it with the local mod shop. I’ve used some of their stuff to upgrade my old 2006 E55 wagon (specifically for Escort radar dash integration) which worked very well.

I used SlyBrackets (https://www.slybrackets.com/store/) on my ‘18 E63S Wagon. Pretty well made out of anodized aluminum. Easy to mount, too. The offset mount location shown in the picture kept triggering the proximity sensors until I moved the plate to the center. No issues since.

So, I just got pulled over in my village. The LEO couldn't have been nicer. He apologized to me, and said that they were under pressure to pull over cars without front plates. I apologized, and said I had just washed the car, and forgot to put the plate back up. He said, wait, the plate is there? I pulled out the remote that I have in the center console, pushed the button, and voila, plate appeared. He said he loved it, never saw that before, and apologized again for pulling me over, I thanked him, and apologized for not having the plate up. Great solution, always washing the car, so plate keeps getting retracted. I do forget (not) to put it back up!!
