New E63s wagon ETA?
New E63s wagon ETA?
Hi guys,
I ordered a E63s last month (2021, March). It’s already been a month but the dealer still hasn’t told me the estimated delivery time. I don’t know if this is normal. How long did it take you guys to know the ETA Of your car after ordering?
Thank you in advance for sharing your experience with me!

I ordered my E63S Wagon in late January, got a build slot in mid March for production 1st week in July. But yes, every dealer has different allocations.

From my other post in response to you:
I am also new and was surprised at the misinformation (or even deliberate subterfuge, but hard to know). For a good 4-6 weeks, at a local dealer, I was led to believe they had an allocation for the wagon. Reality is that they typically get an allocation from their AMG rep once they request one - allocations get distributed every month. It wasnt until 4-6 weeks had gone by that they fessed up they were not able to obtain one and had no time guidance on when they might be able to. Throughout this time, we went through the process of specing and they even wanted to charge me a deposit. When it became clear to me what was happening, I expanded the number of dealers to request an allocation on my behalf and specifically chose large AMG dealers where car buddies made a personal introduction for me. None of these four dealers were able to get an allocation for me after another month went by. Two of them were told specifically that there wouldnt be any more 2021 allocations (perhaps for them specifically as opposed to a nationwide comment), and the rationale given was that 2020 was very disrupted by Covid so there are folks who never got their 2020 ordered cars so they were rolled into 2021. Finally, one of the dealer GMs, where a personal introduction had been made, looked in the system (nationwide) and referred me to 3 dealers that had configurable allocations that had yet to lock and didnt have customers ascribed to them yet (apparently this is whats called Priority 3). I called those 3 dealers - one wanted $10k over MSRP (preposterous) and the other two were talking with customers but that they hadnt committed yet. I left my info with those two in case their customers dropped out and one of them called me back because this happened. Every allocation has a build slot and has a Purchase Order # (referred to as a PO). Your dealer should know when the build slot is and when your allocation locks / ceases to be configurable. If they cant explain this level of detail, you’re likely stuck one level prior to this as I described above - they want your biz, they assumed they could get you an allocation, they havent been successful yet, and they’ve yet to explain how or why. Dont even get me started on what happens if you want to spec designo anything...(which I did). Good luck and hang in there! Feel free to DM me if you want to follow up. The buying experience for something that can cost $115-145k should be happy and celebratory, not stressful and opaque.

My dealer had a build slot for a wagon. I jumped on it and put a deposit on it the 1st of March. Scheduled build for 3rd week of May. Was able to spec a Polar white w/ black Napa interior, forged wheels and no night package. ( the pillars get too scratched up over time). Actually not in any real hurry, as my lease on my F Pace SVR isn’t done for a bit. Will be a interesting comparison!! I haven’t been disappointed at all with the Jag. and will be sorry to see it go. I wanted to be proactive, because finding a wagon is very difficult and I wanted to get one before they completely neuter the exhaust and V8 character. Maybe later I will succumb to electrification, but for now I’m going to try the AMG !! Fingers crossed, it won’t be a disappointment !!

Do you know if your build will be a '21 or '22? Were you able to get a discount at all? Lastly, don't EVER succumb to electrification!!!

My build is a 2021. My guy was funny, he was very clear that there was no discount and that some dealers are getting that (infamous) market adjustment added to cars. As supposed supply sources are still struggling to meet demand ?? I’m ok with sticker. I got exactly what I wanted. You soon forget what you payed, but you always remember what you bought. They have included tint and wheel / tire protection pkg. As long as it’s as advertised, I’m good with paying full pop, but never a penny more. If I were after a sedan, it would be a different story, but not so much on a wagon. Electrification is certainly a force. I’ve heard the Porsche Taycan zipping by and they have a very unusual sound. But I really prefer hearing a exhaust! So hoping E63 S is a solid car !!
It's been like this for a WHILE. When I went to order a W213 wagon in late 2017 my usual dealer also overestimated their ability to get an allocation, would have probably been 4-6 months just to get an allocation. Talked to a larger volume dealer. Told them I wanted a wagon with CCBs, which made it even harder since (at least at that time) POs were flagged for CCBs at the time they were distributed because they were only building 8-10 E63s (sedans and wagons) with CCBs per month...worldwide. The bigger dealer ended up trading 3 volume model allocations they had for my E63 Wagon with CCBs and GLS63 for another customer. It took about 6 months from locking the order to delivery, including a two month delay after a VIN assignment because they were waiting on parts and mine was loaded. The dealer I worked with doesn't sell over MSRP but that's what I would have paid without a 5% fleet discount for a professional organization membership I'm with. My friend recently got his board certification and joined a private practice and was going to treat himself to a 2021 E63 Wagon but he's in the wind trying to find any free. Best of luck, it's work the effort.
