Auto Start/Stop Problem

I believe stop/start, sailing and cylinder deactivation share dependencies, so disabling one may affect the others. Hopefully HDTuning can confirm.
You may want a config that just retains the selected state, so if you turn off start/stop it stays off even when cycling the ignition. This way, you can turn it back on when wanted.
I had this setup on my C-Class and "problem" solved.
Most of the "ECO Off" OBD flash programmers use this method.

There have been several reports of this happening with other AMG V8 models. I don't recall if there was ever a solution posted, but it's some kind of a malfunction. Like others, I turn start/stop off first thing after starting the engine. It's a silly and questionable "feature" in an AMG, and just one more thing that can break as evidenced here. If you have lots of short stops, you actually end up using more fuel. For stops of 7 seconds or less, idling uses less fuel than restarting the engine.

I'd like to disable just the start/stop and keep the rest. Every company/programmer so far has said that sailing/4cyl are also disabled when they do their thing. So really all they're doing is pressing the console button automatically. I end up just running in sport mode and use comfort when I'm on the freeway.

How does one "engage" sailing mode? I've never seen it on mine, but 4 cylinder mode I see all the time, in comfort mode.
edit: nvm, found out turning off auto stop/start also disables sail/glide mode. I always turn off auto s/s.

From what I've read, it appears there is no distinct start/stop on/off. It is a group of features that get turned on/off consisting of auto start/stop, sailing/glide, and 8/4 cyl switching. I don't mind the sailing (actually kind of cool) and 4cyl modes. I hate auto start/stop.
There actually is a way to disable start/atop and that only. If your starter battery isn't fully charged then auto start/stop is disabled but 4cyl (and I assume) sailing continue to work.
