New to me 2018 E63S Wagon...Now how do I order OEM Night Package trim?

Howdy Folks!

After searching, negotiating, and failing to find the wagon I wanted, I finally found one that checked off just about every requirement I had. Granted it's a 2018, she only had 17600 miles on the odometer with one owner (who babied her) and was extremely well cared for. I flew cross country to Seattle and drove her all the way home to Northern Virginia. I didn't have as much time to make the drive as I had hoped, but even with my rushed schedule it was a beautiful crossing made all the better by this great cruising machine (lots of coffee and massage seats helped!). Additionally, I only had one run-in with law enforcement when I "might have" been exceeding the legal limit, and the trooper happened to be an outstanding individual who let me off with a warning.

As can be seen from the attached photo, she was not optioned with the Night Package from the factory. I made an attempt to purchase OEM Night Package trim from one of the many online vendors, but was told I could not due to my VIN not having the package in its original build. The associate told me I could only purchase the parts via PayPal vs. Credit card, and that the parts would be non-returnable. Is this something others on this forum have experienced?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Mike

Congrats on the new car. One of the best ever made, imo .

What's the cost of the OEM trim pack? I'd be very temped just to drive over to the local wrap shop instead.

I am actually staying away from wrapping the trim in Vinyl. Each shop I have visited for quotes recommends against wrapping trim, and I fully agree with them. The products they carry/offer have a certain "wavy" look to them and would not match the factory gloss black seen in the window supports. I admit that going with vinyl would be the most economical choice, but I really prefer OEM replacement pieces.

My attempted purchase of gloss black OEM parts only included: Rocker panel trim / rear bumper trim / mirror caps / front splitter.

But how do I go about purchasing these items? Is the PayPal non-returnable option something members here have had to deal with in the past?

That is very surprising to hear. I have wrapped trim and/or door handles on my C63, E63S and GLE63 and think it looks great. Never had any issues.

I wouldn't call them "issues", just that I find the Vinyl doesn't match the factory gloss black trim exactly. I'm just trying to stay as OEM as possible (within reason ).

You wouldn't? Not matching or wavy would definitely be an issue in my book. As I said mine came out great and I've seen plenty of people on here with the same. Anyway to each their own. Congrats on the car and hopefully someone here with a wagon can give you a VIN so you can order the package from the dealership.

Thanks OC AMG!

Seems dealerships offer the parts at a significant mark-up, so I'd rather shop around on the web. I'm just concerned about an associate telling me the purchase has to be via PayPal.

Thank you, and congrats to you as well! I'm in Loudoun county.

Do you happen to have the Night Package on your 2018, and if so, may I use your VIN?

The likely issue is that because your vin does not have the night package, the online vendor does not want to get stuck with a return due to you ordering something incorrectly. I would not worry about it if you know what you are ordering will fit and you will not return unless damaged. I would ask what the return policy is for a damaged piece on arrival.

good luck

Good advice in regards to the return on potential damaged parts.

I am following the part schematics from online vendors based on make, model, year and trim, so I should be good to go.

Wow. That's gorgeous. Congrats. Have you considered going the other way? Love the aluminum trim on the white wagon. Try some silver wheels on and it'll all come together nicely. Congrats.

OCD,

While I do think the Diamond White wears the aluminum trim very nicely, I personally prefer the gloss black accents. With the amount of primary color on this "land yacht" I feel that it needs the dark color to act as a contrast, and the aluminum just isn't enough of a contrast for me. I am only swapping out some of the Aluminum (rocker trim, front snow plow trim, mirrors and bumper trim) on this go-around, so it will be a somewhat gradual "Fade to Black" (thanks Metallica).

Now, if my ability to order this stuff over the webzzzz is continually hindered, then yeah, I may just be forced to live with the Aluminum.

Congrats on the wagon - it looks great and no doubt you will enjoy it immensely! I've found that Mercedes Alexandria (I'm in Arlington, Va) offers pretty competitive parts pricing if you order them through their website. Can't wait to see your wagon with the Night trim pieces.

I don't disagree with you, but given their cost (more than $500 each) and the fact that the headliner will need to be dropped in order to uninstall/install, makes the roof rails a project (likely paint) for later.

Are you doing the install or having it done? I'm in the same boat with a diamond white metallic ('21 sedan though) that someone didn't check the night package box on. I haven't checked into pricing yet, but wasn't sure if it was easy enough to do or needed to pay up for install. The aluminum around the windows bugs me the most, anyone know how it comes off?

Also (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but even with the night package I believe there is still the chrome strip on the rear. At least that's how my edition 1 was. Door handles had chrome too.

I am not doing the install. The shop that will be applying the paint protection film (PPF) will do that work, as they will be wrapping the OEM black pieces with film as well.

As far as how the window trim comes off…I have no idea. I have tried to look on YouTube, but there were no videos for our specific year wagons/sedans. If you happen to get an answer on how it’s removed I’d love to find out.

You are correct. The chrome strip and the door handles always stay chrome no matter what packages you select.

I got a 2021 white sedan with no night package too. I was planning to get the side mirrors, window trim, and some of the shiny chrome pieces wrapped in black. Anyone got recs in the LA area?

Has one been able to get pricing for the OEM night package? Like one of posters above, I hate the aluminum trim around the windows the most. Would love to be able to replace that. I wonder if it can be professionally painted?
