E63 Front License Plate Holder removable?
Does anyone know where the factory E63 front license plate bracket attaches and how many holes are drilled into the bumper? Looking at a car for purchase trying to figure out if it's removable and what the damage will be underneath. Any help would help!!
At best it will be removable with no damage, but thinking theres at least two holes drilled in? Where in the bumper are they drilled into - where the two holes are positioned? Here is the bracket in question ...
I'm thinking a set of bumper plugs to cover the holes up instead of repainting bumper, if it's drilled in.

Here's the bracket that came in the trunk of my car. Looks like 2 holes in the bumper on the left and right edges, and a hole not through the bumper in the center to a separate accessory piece?
Dealer said they don't drill front bumpers on AMG vehicles and made me sign a waiver to release them from liability for not attaching front bracket and plate. I told them thanks, it's a sin to drill the front bumper.

For my European delivery they had the Euro front plate holder mounted. Not sure how it was attached, but no holes were made through any of the front bumper.
Upon delivery to the US, the US front plate holder was in the trunk and the Euro front plate holder was gone and my bumper was unblemished.
I've attached the front plate to the holder but never driven with it mounted. I keep it in the trunk with the other misc stuff I keep in the collapsible crate. Figured if stopped I could pull it out and say I just noticed it was loose and took off for the drive home to make sure I didn't loose it. The back side of the front plate holder for my 2018 has a couple of fingers that clip over something in the front bumper. It is secure enough to hold it in place in the parking lot and maybe driving on a smooth road, but probably not for anything long term without extra support like double sided tape or screw attachments.

Anybody have a pic of that euro front bumper bracket? I bought a customized euro-style plate but can't figure how to attach it without damaging anything. In previous cars I just used double-sided foam tape, but the E63 bumper has no decently flat surfaces to do that.

So you don't have the Euro MB mount part? FYI, It is MB part# A2138803800.... Not easy to google or find. If you search you can find pics. My car still has the front euro style mount on it. I can't imagine that is could be put on without holes though (the backside of the mount is not solid - it is recessed so there is little contact except from the edges of the bracket and the car). There is a screw in the middle, but it hits the center black plastic divider on the lower grill, so probably unnoticeable upon removal, but the other two screw holes seem like they would hit the bumper... However, they are positioned, and recessed, at a 45 degree angle so that they may actually hit the underside of the body that is between the upper grill and lower grill (and be mostly unnoticeable upon removal - speculating though). Hope this helps.

the one on my car was the same one as that ebay listing, and I suspect the same as OP's picture. there are 2 holes drilled into bumper. the center hole goes into this clamp looking like thing that can be removed without leaving another hole.
I recommend bumper plugs: https://bumperplugs.com/mercedes/bum...s-for-mercedes
they have plugs that are color matched to OEM colors. this was important as my car is cardinal red which is pretty awkward to try to match. down sides are that they're stupid expensive for what it is, and I actually had to REdrill the bumper holes so they're bigger and fit the plugs (I assume the plugs are large so that they will plug up whatever hole you have). it looks fine after. much less conspicuous than the radar sensors which dot the front anyway.

Do you have any pictures of how it looks after? Thanks!!

Interesting - Would be good to see how the non holes method works and whether it is the same part... The part I have makes almost not contact with the bumper except the edges (nothing to tape), and the contact area around the screw holes is about the size of a dime.... I can't imagine adhesive there would hold up to autobahn speeds and the weather...

Not sure how they did it because I never saw the Euro plate holder after it was removed, so no idea how it attached. Here is a quick shot of the front of the car showing no holes drilled in the bumper.
And yes I know it needs a wash :-) It's going in for annual service soon and they'll give it a bath then. November 6th is the 4 year anniversary of our European delivery trip, hard to believe.
