I had mine changed out at 60,000km at the dealer. The OEM plugs are simply NGK brand.

Finding the spark plug part number is the easy part. Just wondering if anybody had the process to do it? Lots of things in the way… ECU and driver side has coolant reservoir for intercooler… etc.

I know. I tried to get my independent shop to do the job and the guy simply told me that looked to be a lot of unbolting of parts/components so he advised me to take it back to dealer in which I ended up paying a lot more $ for this 'supposedly' straight forward job.

Saw that one already. While similar - that is a C63 and only has the air intake ducts in the way which remove easily. The E63 has much more in the way like the ECU and coolant reservoir.
thanks for the help.

I took mine to an Indy shop about 2k miles ago.. paid about the same premium as if I had gone to the dealer. The dealer was actually my preference but I needed the car done on the same day, dealer was booked out.

What's the recommended interval for plugs on this engine? It looks like a bit of a job with all the stuff in the way. You can barely see the coil packs, let alone being able to remove them & get to the plugs.

AMG is a high performance vehicle, to get the most out of it, the spark plugs should be changed at an earlier interval than your ordinary lower horsepower vehicle, per se, imo.
From my first change at 60,000km, I asked for the old ones back and they all showed signs of wear but not to the point of excessive wear which can impede performance. In the end, it is likely up to the individuals.

E63s Spark Plug Change
I changed them 2 days ago, car done 59,000km took 3hrs approx.
its not a DIY. On the left engine bank(driver side) the mechanic had to remove the intercooler reservoir (aux reservoir) just pulled it and popped up. and removed its bracket underneath, then had to unscrew the bolts for the high pressure fuel pump then moved the rails and get access to the ignition coils. Its a tight space,
the left engine bank (pax side) had to unplug the ECU cables and unscrew the bolts holding it, moved it out of the way and then tried to get to the ignition coils.
here in the UAE the labour costed me 41$. with engine oil changed as well. . lol.
obviously the dealer would've charged me way more than that.
the car ran much more smoother and a noticeable difference in performance.

its a LOT to DIY. i wouldn't attempt it.
DI cars are hard on plugs. Do it every 60 at the latest. Jurys out on how much indexing matters, but any MB specialist will do it and have their own way of doing it.

As these 213s age , I'm guessing a diy spark plug thread will eventually surface here. Haven't heard much about indexing these like the m157 ? Sounds like it involves removing quite a few items to access.
Hopefully some more info surfaces as the 50-60k mile marker becomes more common here.
