It appears the exclusivity component hits hard that they are willing to deal with a top of the line car sitting on the lot collecting dust. Make it make sense.
Panamera Turbos and Cayenne Turbo GTs can be had if you are patient and pay what must be paid.
I tried that 2 years ago. First problem is you have to deal with Porsche. The second insurmountable hurdle is that there are WAY too many options. Ordering a car at Porsche is like trying to order at the Cheesecake Factory. By page 15 my brain just shut off and I couldn't make a decision. Like why are there 7 different types of cupholders and 20 different wheels and 15 window trim finishes? FFS there are 24 f'ing Panamera models! C'mon man.

Seriously, picking a color is hard enough. I couldn't deal with all that noise.
The good thing about the car inbound to Delaware is you don't have to choose, the car has been ordered and on its way.
Some in the Porsche community look at choosing options as part of the enjoyment in the process. Picking options is not strictly necessary if an in-stock or inbound unit is purchased.
What specifically are you thinking of when contemplating "dealing with Porsche"?
Yeh at first Porsche options can be overwhelming but after a few builds you get accustomed to it and it's missed when building other brands. For example, I wish Mercedes had more leather options. I mean who wouldn't pay an extra $500 for leather covered airbag. Or $1800 for lower dash. All the plastic in E63 cabin is out of place and not having the option to cover those parts in leather is a bit annoying.

There were 18 non-FE wagons allocated to the US. A few are in transit to the delivering dealer, 5 are on the water and not sold. Only 1 is at a VPC. So, if a person really wants one of these wagons, your dealer can obtain them I'm certain. BTW, there are 60 FE wagons waiting to be sold.

All data points I've come across indicate 6-7 fewer US-bound 2023 wagons.
From the US inventory screen. All the units show "sold" (P1), but most probably not really. It looks like an additional allocation was made beyond the initial 9 units. There was one unit in transit to a UT dealer.
MB won't let the Canadian dealers export them to the US. MB also won't supply letters of compliance after MY2021. And the warranty won't transfer. And it's expensive....but I'm still trying!
+1
Mercedes won’t provide compliance letter for the newer cars IMHO to protect the market:
