An answer that makes sense! Thank you. So if the wear is uneven that could mean where the sensor or visual inspection areas are measuring pad thickness maybe ok, but other areas of the pad we can't see or that is not near a sensor maybe too low = wreck the rotor.

I'm waiting for someone to disprove what I believe is to be a myth for street driving.
If tracking, yeah, you want lots of mm and meat on the pads before the weekend starts. Starting an event with 1/2 pads would be risky, could use them up and wreck rotors.
But on the street? I see no reason to change out pads for no reason at 50% wear.
Like I said in another thread - because pads are so cheap compared to rotors I'm too chicken **** to put my money where my mouth is and will probably change my pads out at 50% too.
In my gut I think it's stupid. IMHO there is no reason mechanically why the rotors would wear faster if using good pads below 50%. I have no idea where this legend started.

I don't know what percentage I have left, but at my last service they reported 6 mm front and rear. I have about 22,000 miles on the car.
To give an idea on how the brakes are wearing, here's a summary of the typical miles put on the car so far.
Mainly commuting in stop and go traffic 4 miles each way to work, one cross country trip, misc shorter trips up the coast, and some spirited mountain driving now and then.
I do pop the car into race mode whenever I'm having fun throttle time around some of my favorite corners in order to keep the traction control and ESP from activating the rear brakes to limit wheel spin or the rear end lightly stepping out.

So i have probably the highest mileage w213 e63s with CCB.
130k+ miles.
the CCB rotors are still OEM. The pads have been replaced a couple of times and I will be replacing the pads on all 4 corners in the coming weeks....

How's the wear dots look?
Will they weigh the rotors to see if they are still in spec?
As I understand the CCB rotor's do not get thinner, they get lighter as the bonding agents gas off

due to mileage, this car will not see a dealer. I have an indie that does work on the car if i do not have time to turn my own wrench.

measurements....the only thing i wont do is tires. I got a new set of PS4'S and amazingly the dealers beat out discount tire by a significant margin so got the alignment dine by them.... they did their checks and informed me of pad thickness.front still had some material left but rears... not so much.
Due to rotor cost, no way i am waiting longer.

Got it. I too was shocked to get my tires done at the dealer, for the second time even. For these Michelin's they are very competitive for some reason.
Where are you located? Rear pad wear leads me to believe you've got some fun roads nearby...unlike me.

I've been getting tire replacements at the dealer too over past few years. Every once in a while, they run a buy 3 get 1 free sale. For specialty tires, the total installed price going to the dealer ends up being cheaper than Tirerack or national tire store chains. And the tires are in stock rather than backordered.

Nice to hear that someone here running over 130K plus miles on CCB is still going strong. At how many miles and mm did you change all 4 pads? And how much were just the pads to replace?

Paint is still matte.new ps4s. Vacuumed and detailed....now just need. Let see if i can get it to 200k.

Bringing back the thread once more, thanks for all the knowledge shared so far.
My CCBs have ~23k miles on them now, I purchased the car with 15k miles earlier this year. Majority highway driving and car has never seen the track. Brakes still feel like strong but I want to change pads at the 40% mark to be on the safe side as recommended by many on here.
Was wondering what method folks use to estimate their pad wear on these cars? Is there an easy way to reliably eyeball it?
Also, my CCBs seem to squeal occasionally in city driving but only on one side (front-left). Is that a sign that the pads are going since the sound isn't uniform?

The pads measure 11mm thickness for the fronts. The rears I think they were 6.x mm new (i thought i had written down the measurements).
The rears are actively used by the hill hold, park, diff load spliting (part of 4Matic+) and lane assist features.

Those circular spots are wear indicators and need to be smooth

When darker spots start showing they are starting to show wear, and will feel a little pitted.
The more dark/pitted they are the more through their life rotors are.
The circles in your pics look "new". They will last a long time if you are already at 50k with almost "no wear" indicated.
Yes, the official only way to tell "for real" is to weigh the rotors the weight they should be is written on each CCB rotor. The reason for the weighing is unlike traditional iron rotors that wear thinner, CCB's gass off bonding agents and get lighter/less dense as they wear until one day they are no longer structurally sound, even though they look smooth and good. (Except the wear dots which will be all black and pitted).
