Can MB be let off the hook of a warranty repair if the owner's car is diagnosed to have the RMS issue, but owner then continues to drive the car around while everyone waits for the parts to show up?

I would be too nervous to create any loopholes that would allow for MB to be released from the warranty repair.

dealer dependent and this is something that should be clarified before driving that car off their property once it's diagnosed and you're in a waiting game for parts. This is a nice time to "get things in writing"

I'd recommend to always schedule an appointment with a loaner car prior to taking the vechile in, that way no one would be in this situation.

I got my 2018 back. It took a couple days more than anticipated, but it is done. They did replace the oil separators (PN 177-010-87-12 and 177-010-88-12). They referred to PTSS case # 244529288 which they wrote was related to my concerns about the oil separators.

Thanks for the update. Would you be able to post the service invoice with your personal details redacted? This helps people deal with service advisors for warranty coverage and to see the parts list for DIYers in the future.

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC utilizes an online technical assistance system named PTSS (Product Technical Support System). PTSS is supported by our DTS (Dealer Technical Support) team. The system allows for internal case escalation where necessary to assist in repairs and populates a knowledge database, which helps other dealers solve technical issues through a system named TIPS.

That seems to indicate it is available to all dealers and is a centralized database. I don't have access but perhaps someone here does and can post the details.

Maybe this weekend. They do detail all the steps they took. Pretty much blow apart a large portion of the front of the car/engine to do the separators.
