Got Gas?

Hello all,
Just wondering if any of you use non-ethanol gas. I've been using it as of late and it does give better gas mileage though I don't feel any difference in performance. For those of you who do use it, what are your thoughts?

I don't have any non ethanol options where I live, so I can't make a comparison of the two. Performance of the car is great and I've not been disappointed with the gas mileage on the couple trips we've taken with the car. If it were available I would definitely use it over the "corn gas".

When I switched from ethanol to pure-gas, I felt the car breathed better or the acceleration is smoother but I think it was just in my head.

Hopefully there is one you could try, here is a map where they are all located: https://www.pure-gas.org/

Thanks for sharing the link. I actually found three that are only an hour from me that I was not aware had the ethanol free. Will give it a try once the weather improves here and report back if I note any differences.

I wouldn’t waste the time, effort, and money finding ethanol free gas. Sure it would be great if we could go back to the days where ethanol wasn't a thing, but I’ve done tests and I’ve noticed no difference whatsoever. Power feels the same, and no better or worse fuel economy.

I guess it is worth at least trying once, I mean YMMV, like literally but like you said, should still keep the expectations in check and in case it disappoints. FWIW, it did change for me (although possibly in my head), something to keep in mind is that from the same gas station brand at different locations, there is still a possibility that the gas comes from different refineries so that maybe is another reason for the differences experienced.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
My car is...

Definitely better with the 93 ethanol free gas. Runs better, and I have a little overrun (pops and crackles) that I don't normally have. I do have Renntech software so that might have a little something to do with it...ymmv....

I've been running non-ethanol gas in my motorcycles and in my car for some time now when available. In the bike I do feel its a slight bit more powerful, nothing significant. In the car I couldn't really tell a difference as our cars aren't underpowered to begin with. Pops & crackles I've got plenty when in S+ mode in bone stock form, whether I'm using non-ethanol or 'regular' gas . . . Only some serious dyno comparisons might shed some light on power improvements if any. However, I'm hoping I'll be able to bank on less problems/issues with vehicles in regards to repairs etc by frequent use of non-ethanol gas in the long run . . .

Considering you stand to make 80+AWHP increase over a conventional 93 octane tune on our cars by upping the ethanol content and tuning to match, I do not see how no ethanol will improve HP. I am going with a placebo feeling to explain the seat-of-the-pants differences.

Reminds me of when I was so damn sure my car was running slower in colder weather and tried to get a retune. Was a significant enough feeling too cos when it warms up the car absolutely ripped!! Once it got cold 50s and below, it seemed to lose steam on the top end. Getting my draggy in the car later, I was faster by 3 mph and half a second in the quarter and 60-130mph in the cold
