W213 E63s General Questions

Hello All, I'm seeking some advise for my 2018 E63s.

About the car: Stock 2018 e63s Edition 1 w/ 60k miles. I was driving when I heard a pop form the engine bay on the drivers side then the car lost all boost. Turns out that the drivers side intake manifold developed a crack - and that's why the car is in the repair shop now.

While the car is in the shop, I am replacing both intake manifolds, spark plugs, removing secondary cats on the stock downpipes, and replacing all turbo cooling lines (one return line has a slight leak)

After the car is complete, I plan to do an ecu tune and cpc module. The end goal is to make some more power and run some respectable track times (and of course to beat hellcats, corvettes, and M3/M4 in the half mile)

While the motor is out of the vehicle, are there any additional maintenance items I should address??? Id really like to knock out any preventative items or items that might come due in the coming miles. Thanks for your input!

You might consider having the oil vapor separators changed. One problem that seems to be popping up is rear main seal leaks and the separators are the most likely culprit. Some have reported the RMS leak with as little as 18,000 miles. If it develops the engine will have to pulled again for the repair.

I was just about to say the same thing. Definitely check this while you have it in the shop

go fast grocery getter wagon
change out your tranny fluid, even though you may or may not have hit a certain mileage milestone per se.

From the standpoint of preventative maintenance I would change the ignition coils since you’re changing the spark plugs. Shouldn’t be any additional labor and after 60k miles on the old ones you have piece of mind they’re new.

Agree with vapor separators, coils and trans fluid.

I would had advised motor mounts but given your mileage perhaps it doesn't make sense (way too early?)

May consider replacing some of the other plastic coolant fittings, that are otherwise a pain to access with the engine in the car. I haven’t had an issue yet with my W213. However, on my 212 with the M157, there were a few (on in the back of the block in particular) that required removal of the intake to replace a $30/part.

At ~24K one of mine failed and both were replaced. IDK the cost for the parts, but replacement required pulling the engine/tranny. The dealer had it for a month. So unless they're overly expensive, it seems a good idea to replace them when the engine is already out.

I see, then okay to: OP, include the motor mounts as well, tranny mounts should be way easier though, no?
