Same issue
I have an E 53 and mine has done this a couple of times as well! Dont know why.
Twice this week after a normal drive, car is at temp etc, I park and one time 10 minutes later, another time 1 hour later, get in the car, start it, fiddle getting organized for a minute or less, as soon as I put the car in Drive
LURCH-BANG! stall.
Feels exactly like a new driver dumping the clutch at idle.
I'm already going to the dealer for an early oil change Monday and I'm reporting this too. Car has 3,085kms on it.
Anyone else?
EDIT UPDATE: Symptoms progressed to slipping: https://mbworld.org/forums/w213-amg/...ml#post8822786

Do you mind posting the video online and including it in your original post, that will truly help those who come across your thread as well. Either way, glad you are getting well taken care of by your fav dealership!

I didn’t announce the gear shift into reverse from drive but you can see the change to R and hear the click of the shifter stock.

Its not the greatest video. I was mostly watching traffic as I was dead stopped in the middle of a curve half completed a left hand turn. Not like there’s anything I could’ve done if someone didn’t see me and didn’t drive around. A precarious situation for sure.

Ugh sorry you had to deal with that, that must be scary, being around traffic and not able to do anything. Glad you came out unscathed.

Interesting. Turning the car off and on would make me initially think that it was a software issue, but then they said the EEPROM and logs presented no issue (although you probably know this, I apologize in advance: "Eprom" means EEPROM which is a non-volatile reprogrammable chip -- Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory, for those wondering, old motherboards used it to store the BIOS),
Of course finding metal shavings clearly identifies a mechanical issue, so restarting the car probably puts the transmission in some sort of "initialized state" which physically moves the affected component(s) back to "normal". I assume you've also tried putting it in P and then coming back into D or R.
Maybe next time you talk to your mechanic you can get him to tell you the TSB #, if Germany identified one at all?

It's in stock, they said two weeks it will be here. So maybe next week, maybe the week after that.
Now my wife wants to keep the W212 as it's been very convenient having it during all of this. I tried to explain high mileage, m157, hot potato... or maybe it's destiny and I need a tank of E, load the E40 tune and go blast a 10. I've never ran the E tune yet in the 212. Hmm.
P.S. no difficulty, life's good. I'm driving an E63 while an E63 is in the shop. These are my dream cars ever since MIB. It's funny, it was but a distant dream back then as I tooled around in a new C230 Kompressor sedan. And the C230 was surreal at the time, I would just go sit in the garage and stare at it in shock and awe after we got it. LOL.
Can't complain.

i wonder what changed from the previous MCT 9 speeds.
On top of that, they are replacing the whole transmission? so i take it the wet clutch pack is not sold separately?

They said they are replacing "both" the clutch pack assembly and transmission and 'both" are in stock so I assume they can be ordered and sold separately. I'll report back if I remember when the parts actually come in and I see the invoice/work service record.

Hey since the car is sitting waiting on parts - should I do a rear diff fluid change? It has 5,000kms / 3,000 miles on it. I know they no longer "require" it after break-in, is that just MB being cheap/lazy? I'm thinking of calling them and telling them to do the diff oil change and potentially contributing to a longer life.
