Not another FE thread (Canadian spec)

Well my dealer offered me an FE wagon to trade up to. After reading all these threads about how poorly spec’d and overpriced these were, I went with complete doubt. I was shocked to see how nice it looked - being a prefacelift owner, I for once liked the front grille and how the matte graphite contrasted with the shiny and chrome bits. Canadian specs got all the things US buyers were complaining about not having. Carbon ceramics, HUD, rear climate and heated seats, adaptive/intelligent multibeams. Not sure if there’s an OPF - can anyone chime in on that?

So the US market must have prematurely released their FE cars during the supply chain issue which isn’t the case anymore. This wagon is fully-spec’d (except no sport seats). So is it worth the money now? Hot take: I’m almost thinking yes, especially since there’s no more V8 E63 in the future. Or have all these previous partially-built US FE cars gone and ruined this car’s value?

Mind you, I don’t care about future value as much for a daily car. But it’s the question of whether trading in a prefacelift for this particular one makes sense.

Love those wheels and calipers with that matte paintwork. Beautiful and rare. I'd go for it (and then peel off those plastic racing stripes as soon as I got that baby home).

I hear there are many unsold wagons in Canada, perhaps you have a little bargaining power?

What the hell!?!? Why didn't we get that in the US!?!?

If the US FE cars had been spec'd that way, there would be one in our driveway right now. Seeing that only pisses me off more about the US cars. We got all the markup but none of the parts! FU MB!!!

They conveniently had a non-FE in the showroom. Side by side, you can tell that the FE looks special, both exterior and interior. The chrome (which I hated prefacelift) works well. It’s like a smoked chrome. I’d say the only thing my prefacelift has over this now is the IWC clock. And the sound - can anyone confirm whether Canada/US has OPF? I plan to bring my wagon there for a side by side sound comparison.

Yeah

Canada spec is definitely better. But then why didn’t they all come this way?!

The Canadian price still has excessive markup when you add in all of the additional options compared to the US FE cars. MBUSA spec'd the options and the parts were not limited by availability. The Canadian ordering systems mirrors the German system, unlike the US. That's why you can get a regular wagon in addition to an AT or even get a C-class wagon (whose size I would prefer). Still, there is a premium for the badges, decals and wheels.

Apparently with the change of personnel at MB, Canada will now be adopting the same ordering system as the US. Wahoo.

I wonder if in a couple years, when there’s only an inline 6 (or worse a 4 cylinder) hybrid E63, this FE premium will have been justified…what do I know lol

Mega, mega shame on Mercedes for this one. That's infuriating. AND they made it so we couldn't import them to the US. Jerks.

A fully loaded FE in the US could be $$$ some day just because it never existed here. My understanding is after it's been titled for a year in CA it can come across? I'd be a buyer on that.

@63Wagonesque IMHO get it. The FE here in Canada are spec'd great. And dealers do not do ADM here so you will get it at MSRP. I'd snap it up. If I knew my dealer was going to have an FE wagon sitting for sale this month with no buyers I may not have bought the Silver High Tech 2023 in May.
I Love the FE wheels with CCB and that paint. Looks awesome.
Go for it, it's a "good deal".

Snap it up. Then you would be the other wagon nationwide . Only 1 of 12 and IIRC thats the last one available.

Also be prepared to be dissed as most people dont know there are 12 that are spec’d to the brim..

2023 E63S Wagon
I was at the dealer today
Here is what the FE comes with in Canada

I've highlighted in BOLD what my non FE doesn't have. Price works out to be the same. They charge $25,000 for the "FE" package but it includes Carbon Brakes, Carbon Trim (but not mirrors and spoiler), and other stuff so it pretty much evens out that the FE is not really any more money in Canada then a non FE spec'd the same. Maybe a few grand for missing the Carbon Mirrors and Spoilers, but then add back in Dashcam Puddle Light and the various decals and stickers and yellow door sill lights, Magno paint, the overall price is "the same".

E63S4MS - E63 S 4MATIC+ Wagon
D21 - Green Levy Tax (Price TBD)
DP1 - Premium Package-94-E
- Climate Comfort Front Seats
- 360-Degree Camera
- Foot Activated Trunk/Tailgate Release
- Keyless Go
- Enhanced Heated Front Seats
- Heated Armrests - Front
- KEYLESS GO Package
- Parking Package
- Warmth Comfort Package
- Head-Up Display
- Heated Rear Seats
- Soft Close Doors
DX1 - Exclusive Package-23
- Drive-Dynamic Multicontour Front Seats
- MBUX Interior Assist
- Air Balance Package
- Energizing Comfort
- THERMOTRONIC Automatic Climate Control
DE1 - AMG Final Edition-94-23
- Paint Protection
- Black / Grey Pearl w/ Yellow Stitching AMG Exclusive Nappa Leather
- Black Roof Rails
- AMG Carbon Fibre Centre Console
- MANUFAKTUR Graphite Grey MAGNO
- AMG Carbon Ceramic Brake System
- Branded Car Cover
- Surround Lighting with AMG Projection
- AMG Performance Steering Wheel (Nappa/DINAMICA) - My Wheel is the L6H Carbon/DINAMICA
- AMG Night Package
- AMG Edition Steering Code
- 20inch AM Cross-Spoke Forged Wheels - Bicolour - My Wheels are Matte Black
- AMG Crest on C-Pillar
- Performance Decals

- AMG Edition Plaque
- Black AMG Door Sills with Yellow Illumination
- Omission of Dark Tinted Glass
- AMG Carbon Fibre Trim - Note FE does not also have the "B28 Carbon Mirrors and Spoiler" it is just gloss black mirrors and spoilers
DL1 - Intelligent Drive Package-94-23
- Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
- Active Stop and Go Assist
- Active Steering Assist
- PRE-SAFE Impulse Side
- Active Speed Limit Assist
- Active Lane Changing Assist
- Enhanced Stop and Go
- Map-Based Speed Adaptation
- Driving Assistance Package
- Active Blind Spot Assist
- Active Lane Keeping Assist
- PRE-SAFE PLUS
PAF - Acoustic Comfort Package
21U - Dash Cam (Forward Facing)
R01 - Summer Performance Tires - They are the Pirelli's I have the PS4's
51U - Black Fabric Roof Liner
MANU2 - MANUFAKTUR Exterior Charge- MAGNO - Mine's High Tech Silver

So in a nutshell almost the same car except steering wheel, Paint, Wheels, Dash Cam, and AMG puddle lights, and it's missing the carbon Mirror's and Spoilers. But, it DOES have a working transmission

Missing from both the FE and my car:
Sun package with roll-up shades in the rear door windows
Dinamica Headliner

Hope your car drama ends soon, I. T…. How frustrating!

Comparing to pre-FL, the Canadian FE also has no massage seats, the CarPlay only uses 2/3 the screen, and the exhaust is quieter. And there’s no FAL button. All these things I use daily. Still, overall it’s a better car. I just have to figure out if it’s worth that much more to move to a newer car.

Be happy we have V8s, I don’t have a good feeling about the next generation…

Yeah the missing row of buttons threw me for a loop when I first picked up the new car.

Thanks for the list @I.T. Guy ! Btw, I'd suggest to ask for a car cover. They gave me one when I bought the car after I asked for it. And you more than deserve that for free after all this.

For me personally, the only thing from that list that I'm missing and would love to get, are the CCB. But I guess I never really wanted CCB until I tried someone's. They can out themselves if they want. Now I'm jealous as f. lol

I miss the buttons in my pre-FL.

EDIT: I thought the Canadian FE came with CCB, but after re-reading that list they don't?

They do come with CCB they moved it into the "DE1 - AMG Final Edition-94-23" section instead of a standalone option
Glad you liked the brakes! I'm jealous of your Dinamica Headliner and roll up sun shades. LOL.
Oh silly Mercedes, couldn't just build the cars we wanted...

Massaging seats are listed - I asked Oakville to check in person if it's in the menus and actually can perform massage function. If it's missing, WOW, that makes my decision really easy to keep my car. I have a lot of irons in the fire right now, many options and ways to go, every one of them will make me happy - I have to decide soon.

It totally sucks they did away with that row of buttons (and the clock). Looks like MB is taking the Apple approach to updates; remove the things I use the most and then charge me more for it.

It does suck, I 100% agree with you.

Can't explain the buttons disappearance (well I guess we can, it's the trend. I miss the pre-FL steering wheel too). But I can say that their agreement with IWC expired which is why they don't have the clock there anymore. Not sure why they couldn't extend the partnership.

EDIT: Looks like they are still partners, there's a "virtual IWC watch" in the EQE now (lol). I guess this only applies for this particular year + model.

There is a quick access screen with almost all of the "buttons" arrayed including the raise/lower one. Additionally, you depress the button for the screen for 5 seconds all of the cameras turn on. I guess that I've become accustomed to the collection.

The one I drove did not have massage. But it had the active seat movement which moves up and down as you drive. It must have been made for electric cars, where people tend to get more nauseous as they can’t feel the drive dynamics. Was a bit strange but I got used to it quickly (like the old active side bolsters).

Well I decided to keep my pre-facelift. Despite the fact that the FE took my breath way (I think they nailed the spec), despite the high want level for carbon ceramics, I just couldn’t find enough to part with mine.

The consolation prize is I have money in the bank to mod my car. After a Canadian winter, of course.

Is this the squeeze in side of seats from time to time while driving? I thought my car was broken.

What's the reason for this and is there a way to turn it off?
