Welcome to the W213 AMG forum (for E43/E53/E63) @Dr_Dan20
I don't see a lot of E43/E53 owners posting mods here. I'm not sure if it's because these owners are just not into modding much or it's because of some of the dooshy comments from some of our V8 brothers making it less likely these owners feel comfortable posting and sharing without being senselessly belittled for having a “lesser car”. Pfft.
IMO modding the car you have is cool and respectable. That's what modding culture is all about - making what you have better than it came. No matter what model you have, there will always be a better, faster, and more expensive car than yours. Who cares? Be into what you have and enjoy it.
There are plenty of aftermarket mods on the web for the E53 for appearance and performance, such as splitters, spoilers, rocker panel skirts, suspension lowering, wheel spacers to widen the wheel spacing and fill the fender gaps, ECU tunes, downpipes, exhaust, intake, OBD modules to change factory settings, etc.
If you do some upgrades/mods, I hope you share them here. Enjoy your car dude!

I don’t GAF what people think. I enjoy my e43 although probably gonna move on in a couple years. Maybe even an e53 loI. ESP the w214 e53. think the bigger issue is who benefits most from e43/53 posts especially when talking about the m276 engine. It doesn’t really fit in this forum. But it doesn’t really fit in the other forum either. It would be good to have a separate sub forum for the e43/53s. And I’ve been meaning to post some pics but too busy and also waiting/deciding on downpipes right now as well as the new m276 intake from Weistec.

I'm a V8 lifer, we don't all have the cash, or interest in a German V8. They're all great cars, let's work together to support each other.

Is there something I don't know about these engines? I thought they were just fine for reliability.
Anyways to answer OP: I've done ECC ECU, TCU, CPC. As well as Focal drop in replacement subwoofers. Car is fantastic, no point in an E63 once it's tuned like this.

‘Not sure what was offered for the 53 but do you have the premium and standard Burmester and did just the focal sub replacement make a difference. I’ve been sitting on a full system overhaul with the focals and dsp, and trunk sub. but seeing if I can get used to my standard Burmester.

It's the midrange burmester. The focal sub drop ins for the footwells made a huge difference at least in my ears. I also bought the tweeter clones from ebay that extend out. Combination made it a really good system.

Yeah the subs are weirdly under the pedal area in front seats.

I installed the updated RMS which should be good for the rest of the life of the car. I'm assuming that's a jab at the oil leaks of the M177, which is nothing compared to the 48v outright causing hybrids to become paperweights. My car has always been driveable at least.

What's the issue with the hybrids?

How does the bass still suck so much stock? lol.
Did the Focal really improve it?

There’s a great write up about improving the base Burmester system in the c class forums. YouTube has some great installs also - all are similar with the biggest improvement being adding a subwoofer and reprocessing the system to cut out the lower end bass to the woofer behind the pedals essentially giving this midbass duties. Seems to clean everything up.

Went with a Eurocharged tune for my E53 and got the ECU back yesterday and all I can say is it’s worth every penny!! I can immediately tell the difference in power and response. The tune makes it feel like it should’ve come from the factory like this. When you push the pedal down, it moves without any hesitation and gets to 80 crazy fast!! Definitely turns the car into a sleeper performance vehicle.
I would highly recommend it for the E53!!👍🏽🙂
For those willing to take the risk 🤷🏽♂️
