2006 E55 Wagon (RIP), 2019 E63S Wagon (Sold) 2023 AMG GT634S
Red face End of an Era

Sigh.... I parted with the 2019 E63 wagon this past weekend. I had hoped that 2023 FE's would be configured well / loaded up and I could grab one and go out on top (and maybe get a brighter color). This engine is superb and it's not going to be around forever. Also - the wagon in the US era seems to be near death, too. Alas - it was not to be. Moving from a 2019 to a 2021 was an option - but really didn't give me the longevity I wanted with this car (warranty / serviceability, etc)

So...... There's a 2023 AMG GT 63 S in Green Hell Magno sitting (glowing? it's kinda bright) in the garage today.

First (break in miles) impression is very positive. This car got "all the good stuff" - performance seats, carbon ceramics, dry sump, 4 wheel steering, etc. And gets me kinda the ultimate. Also it's built on the E wagon chassis - so it's KINDA like staying in the family!

My car will be available shortly at MERCEDES BENZ of Asheville. Selenite Grey, Nut brown, forged black wheels, carbon interior. 19K miles. It's a really nice car. I MAY have driven it in the rain once - but never when the roads were sloppy. Dealer was SUPER to work with. Raphiel is highly recommended.

The AMG GT63 and 53 sedan styling is growing on me. Is Final Assembly in Finland? I believe another poster stated that its suspension is much more forgiving than my 2021 AMG Wagon that I run with DWS06+ Tires now. My drive thru Asheville or Charlotte via I-77 to I-81/I-66 to Reston Virginia is Joyful coming from Athens, GA. But once I take the most direct Route to NYC on I95 Toll Roads from DMV feel like I should have changed cars to Daughter's Buick.

Enjoy your Uber AMG GT Sedan and Congratulations!

Initial thoughts are that this car is SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE than the E63. It's also quieter / less creaky. I agree that the ride quality on the E wagon was not good. It was harsh for no reason and no amount of adjustment seemed to calm it down. Also - and not sure if it was due to the pano roof (my old car just had the standard sunroof) but the amount of structural creaking in the E was surprising.

So - since I am in break in - performance review will have to wait - but I have been very impressed with the ride quality (and on the stock 21's), as well as the absence of creaks and noises. There's NO sunroof in this car and the roof is carbon fiber - and I am thinking that it adds a ton of structural rigidity to the chassis. Interesting compare as it's built on the E wagon - so feels like it has to be the roof / pano difference.

As someone who never rode in pre FL E63s, which yours was, I hear about how stiff they are. Mine is a 2021 and I can’t imagine many would consider the ride quality on the FL models to be poor. Theres definitely some road noise, but I find it very manageable. It’s the right level of rigidity and comfort. Very curious how much more rigid and uncomfortable the pre FL models must’ve been. I used to own an F87 M2, and that was brittle and uncomfortable but BMWs tend to be brittle for the sake of being brittle.

I'd be interested in that too - never rode in a post FL E63 wagon. I am sure that someone here said it was better / same / worse as they moved up in model years but I can't remember the outcome.

My car is listed here - it's a great car, they have CPO'd it. No stories car - 100% stock. If anyone is looking - I recommend. Dealer was great too.

2024 and onwards are in Finland. 2023 and before were Sindelfengen.

The air suspension on the GT63 / S was massively improved in 2023. That's what makes it so damned comfortable. Drove it 780 miles on delivery day (out of state pickup) and never been more comfortable.

THIS. Holy crap it's the most versatile, sneaky fast, 4 door supercar out there. I am absolutely loving it. And the sport seats are phenomenal. We are not big people, so maybe that's a plus - but they can be adjusted to feel like a slightly toned down race seat but still be heated, cooled and pretty comfy! My 2006 E55 wagon was may favorite long haul cruiser, but this has taken the crown. The 2019 made me think the folks at AMG had forgotten the boulevard cruising aspect of these 4 passenger rockets.

Only downside so far is poor MBWorld forum participation.
