Got delivered yesterday, 2020 E63S with 35k miles, need to clean up that dynamica wheel though (sonax or other suggestions? its what i used for my caddy V alcantara wheel)
Anyways, did a bit of searching/reading but couldn't find specific since seems like AMG drive unit limited for 2020 productions but mine are not lighting up or functioning (pressing/turning do nothing), anyone with similar or have input?
apparently there was a small subset of 2020s that got them in addition to the 2021+ but the 2020 ones are a different part number and apparently harder to source

Some of the coding places like RJAutomotive and MBHouse should be able to help with diagnosis and if any coding is required. My 2020 come with the drive units U88 and they work fine.
so im starting to think it might be the silly starlight headliner one of the previous owners installed ( any suggestions on best first interior piece to find/remove power to it? a-pillars?) since it also seems like my USB port in console isnt working correctly (charges but no carplay or showing device connected)
i know in previous cars voltage readings outside expected (dead aux battery or low) would cause strange electrical things to not work, possibility here or likely the amg drive unit on completely different circuit than the above aux stuff?

No carplay/AAuto could be a bad/incompatible usb cable.
I don't know if 2023 is different or if this is the "console" you are talking about but my carplay will only work in the front ashtray/cupholder area USB plug. The two USB plugs in the center armrest "console" will not do carplay or music, they only charge.
Is there any way for you to confirm that the drive units were factory installed, ie original window sticker, etc.?
I assume they are factory, but my initial reaction to the photos of your car's interior was that there could be some aftermarket stuff going on...that may have been my reaction only because I have never seen nut brown sport seats out in the wild like this. Nice seats!
I was lucky to get the drive units as an option on my 2020, and have yet to have any issues so therefore I don't have any experience with troubleshooting.
Shouldn't it still be under warranty? Do a vin search and see if they were factory installed. I can't remember the site though, do a search. The site will list all factory options. The headliner gives me bad mojo vibes.
There have been a few cases where the AMG Drive Unit went dark. Below is a recent thread I found. In this case the steering wheel module had to be replaced. Don't remember what the solutions were for the other similar cases, but I'm guessing it's a fault of the steering wheel module in general when this happens. I must assume they were working at one point, but the previous owner didn't bother to get it fixed.
Sonax is good. I personally use Koch Chemie Polstar diluted 10:1 through a foam dispenser. Cleans my steering wheel beautifully. No protection though..will need to follow with a coating for uv and/or hand oil.
