Hey everyone, I need to do the front rotors and calipers on my 2019 E53. It's a 4matic+ and seems to be different than every other set of AMG brakes that I'm seeing people change the brakes on. Everything looks very standard except for this big blue torx bolt right in the middle of the rotor. I can't tell if it's pinning the rotor to the hub, or if the rotor may just pull away from it like most do. Is there anyone here that can confirm that for me specifically? I have the Brembo pads and rotors for it and the job doesn't look all that special. I've been changing fixed caliper brakes with Brembo or Wilwood 6 pot calipers for ages, so it's not like I'm doing my first brake job. The caliper looks very standard for everything I'm seeing in the W213 range.... pins, sensor, hadrware all look typical.
So, long story short, has anyone done this job and can you tell me whether that big bolt needs to come out? If so does it affect anthing?
Hoping someone here can give me reliable info! W213 E53 brake rotor
The brake rotor and the hub are separate pieces. The rotor is held on to the hub by the rotor retaining bolt, a countersunk bolt that can be seen at the 5:30 position in your pic. Remove the retaining bolt and the rotor will come off.
I look forward to hearing how it goes for you and your thoughts. I'm swapping to PowerStop Z23 rotors and pads (all 4) next week on my E43.
