Yes, I try not to constantly plug/unplug connectors. Most of my USB devices remain plugged in and I don't actually use the USB port much in the car. Only use CarPlay occasionally and I charge my devices wirelessly, partly for convenience, but also to reduce wear on the port. USB-A is pretty sturdy, but broken USB-C ports is starting to become a real problem. I think they are not a good idea in cars as debris, dust and the likelihood of snagging a cable and yanking it is a lot higher. I know the reversible nature of USB-C is a great improvement, but the small pins and small connector aren't very sturdy.
