Question How reliable are 2022 E53's?

I'm eyeing a 2022 E53 w/ ~45,000 miles that's selling for $49,000.
For current E53 owners, how has your experience been w/ your car?

I've seen some threads about the mild-hybrid battery system dying all of a sudden, or some cars having so many issues that MB had to buy them back.
Is 2022 model reliable?
If the mild hybrid system is the main culprit, it looks like most of the E-class have it since 2017 model year? (which model years don't have it?)

E53

I've got a 2023 E53 coupe with 32K on it. The only problems I've had with the car have mostly been my fault. Although one time when I was changing out the summer wheels I must have dropped the car too fast with the jack (?) and when I started the car it said I had been in an accident and should stop driving it and have it taken to an authorized dealer for repair. I didn't take it to the dealer and the car has run fine for another 15K. Not sure what that was all about.

I've heard all the horror stories about the early E53 mild hybrid systems but I've never experienced any of them. I think the stories are what's depressing the resale/trade-in value of the E53's.

Other than that it's a fun car to drive

I have a 2021 E53 sedan with 23500 miles. To date I have had no problems with the hybrid system. The only problem I have had was with the steering wheel modules. I had to have the steering wheel re-wired and the module replaced. The only issues I have now are spurious warnings about the left turn signal and the inside indicator flashes very fast, but externally the signal operates normally. When i turn off the warning, the fault seems to go away for a few weeks, then I get the message again. I have used the reset method and again, the warning goes away for a few weeks before popping up again. I have not had it checked by the dealer, because it is intermittent and not worth the cost to diagnose. Other than that minor annoyance, I love the car. Love the sound, love the way it drives. On a trip to SC from ATL, I averaged 31.5 mpg, 22.8 mpg in normal driving around town.

I had this exact same issue with my 21 E63. It was fixed by the dealer under a software update (no cost to me) and is a known issue with MB. Hopefully you can get it resolved at no cost to you ....

I had a 2019 E53 Cab, what you would refer to as one of the early hybrids. I never had a problem with that, and traded it in for a 2026CLE53 Cab, The problems were the tire/wheels, top latching mechanism, gas tank cover not staying closed after filling up, unless I locked the car for outside, and then unlocked it, it would stay closed.

I have a 2020 sedan, it's been fairly good though I did have the electric supercharger/compressor fail which would have been a ~$4500 repair had I not had the CPO warranty

I'm sitting here trying to decide if I should buy a third party warranty (Fidelity or GWC) before CPO expires. I'm not terribly worried about things like airmatic or whatever and did an oil analysis when I changed the oil late last year which was excellent. I'm curious what kinds of "big ticket" expenses people have had as the warranty is quite expensive and I'm open to doing my own work on the car - but things like a failed ISG or whatever would not be something I could tackle.
