replica watches

So I love all of these beautiful pieces but right now it is not a $ priority to spend on a watch. I have an Omega Seamaster and thought it would be fun to add in another watch so I know some replicas are really good. Any information on the best sites to find them?

Instead of getting a replica, why don't you check out the used market? I got one of my watches from a very reputable seller on ebay. Many of the guys on the watchuseek forums have purchased from him and can vouch for the authenticity of his pieces. Here's a link: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/jmrysh..._sopZ12?_rdc=1

Those are nice, but I think he isn't in the $1k area. A good replica is in the $300 range, although the website escapes me.

Exactly. Sure, I can buy the real thing if I wanted to, just not a priority and thought it would be interesting to see what else is out there.

Just buy a lower end brand name, like a Hamilton. My Hamilton was 950 with taxes. Something about a fake just really turns me cold. Maybe its because I live in fake-cal where everyone is trying to fake it and fake watches run rampant. I would never buy a brietling now because of this.

I got a nice Tissot PR50 auto for $200. It's my daily and has held up well so far.

yes, so where do they buy all of these high quality fakies. Come on Fred I got to rock it big time with low $ budget. I probably will not even get one, just wondering if there were good sites for them since I know there is a large variety of quality when it comes to replicas.

China town sells those things like crazy. Honestly though, it could lead to a very embarrassing moment when you cross some one who knows watches though. I understand the financial situation, but wouldn't you rather just save a bit here and there and get the real deal? You will never regret owning the real thing, but a replica you might.

You don't know know Class 3 replicas. You cannot tell the difference unless you open it up, and you are a brand X specialist. As much as the watch fans here think they know, they wouldn't see the difference in a class 2 or 3 if it bit them in the ***.

I'm not talking about the $30 Class 1's you find in Chinatown, although even those will fool the average joe until they break in 3 months.

Do these replicas get the "automatic movement" correct? Not that I'm an expert, but I've never seen a replica that can reproduce the movement.

So you're buying a nice watch just to impress other people?

Personally I couldn't care less whether people think my (real) watches are fake or not, or what they think of them. I like my Breitlings and wear them for me, nobody else.

There are a lot of high end fakes that have no name automatic movements. Some are up there in price which make them pretty expensive. I understand the $20 chinatown specials but not the $300+ fakes.

I'd rather have a real Timex than a fake Rolex

The replica market hurts everyone, not just the upscale collector.

I collect mid-range vintage Swiss watches - these are now the target market of the counterfeit (replica) factories.

Quite a few of them use Chinese copies of the ETA movement for that "sweep" hand operation of the higher-end watches. As MB has mentioned, some are fairly good quality, simply not genuine.

I would look for a quality used Omega - $500 spent on something you can have serviced instead of ashcanned, and you can resell or pass on to family.

If it's status you're after, wouldn't a nice AMG badge be a better item?

Ok, I guess I have to come clean, it was supposed to be a bit of a joke. This whole Lifestyle Forum was supposed to be about Material Items I thought a thread about Replicas would fit in, all the look, after all, that is all that matters?? right? And why would I buy a used Omega when I already have a perfectly good one that I have owned for 10 years?? But it is amazing how good some of those replicas work, especially the ones with real movements.

I bought my father a fake Tag in Jakarta for about $35. They sell them right in shopping malls there, like a real jewelry store. As far as I know, it's still working 2 years on.

The funny thing is that he had to go to a repair shop to get a link removed to fit his wrist, and the guy swore it was worth $5000.
