Rear wheels "undertracked"..wrong offset?
My mate just got some 17" AMG replicas on his SLK 230. They are 17 x 7.5 all round with 225/45/17 tyres. It appears the rear wheels don't sit out as far as they used to. In fact, they sit further into the fender, appearing as though the rear track is narrower. Is this an optical illusion or do the front and rear have different offset?
I've seen a similar experience with an SLK and CLK with original and replica (respectively) AMG 17 x 7.5 all round, so I am doubting it's because it's a replica. The back seems narrower than with the standard 16 inch wheels running 225/50/16.
Thanks
Higher numbers, for instance , old ET was 30, new ET is 35, the new wheels would sit INWARD 5 mm more on each side.
There are spacers available from 5 mm to 30 mm per side, to move them out further.
