New tires psi question

I just got my car back from the local Carx "place" and these guys are horrible. Luke you may want to rethink suggesting them from the Tire Rack website. Anyway, when I left, I spent the next 30 minutes cleaning my freshly waxed, absolutely filthy dirty rims, and checking psi. The tires were all filled to between 52-54psi...is this even close to what would be considered "normal?" I have never heard of tire pressure that high. This is what they do, and am wondering where this information came from. Why would they fill them so high?

Sorry, I'm not Luke, but can answer part of your question (s ).
The ONLY reason to pump tires up to 50 + psi, is to seat the bead of the tire against the rim.
After installation, they should have been adjusted to factory-recommended pressure.
A LOT of tire installers don't seem to bother with that step.
As far as the sloppy installation goes..........GO KICK THEIR *** !

Thanks meanie! The way my temper has been lately I'm due for a couple of good rounds. I haven't had a good MMA fight for a few years...count to 10, count to 10.

The overall performance of the experience was not good. Any one thing could be dealt with, but everything combined, plus the sheer lack of follow through and professionalism was subpar. The guy I talked to was the owners son and he was apologetic, but probably stopped there as he was the only one opn sight. He certainly got an earful from me. Polite, but very matter of fact about it. I've already taken my business elsewhere, and they appreciated it.

Thanks for the answer though!

Hi,

After changing tire, I checked my tire pressure!
The same thing! the pressure is too high, all around 45!
Then, I released four tires to factory setting.
But, they look like not enough air inside.
I am so confused!

Ben

depends on the weather
well, it happens quite often because the maximum inflation pressure on the side of the tire is what many shops put in the tire when in reality the pressure should be set closer to what the placcard on the vehicle states

I agree Luke, but if memory serves me correct, the PS2's I purchased from you do not have a "max pressure" on the side wall of 52-54 lbs.

Please be sure that I receive a survey regarding your recommended installer.

Thank you!

depends on the weather
maximum pressure on a PS2 is 51 psi ... so, 54 could easily be attibuted to guage error

Ah, thank you Luke! I stand corrected, as I was thinking more in the neighborhood of 44psi max.
