If the tread were perforated, then it would permit air and water to self-clean and decrease hydroplaning. If the center lattice were angled and shaped, it could cool the brakes and clean the inside.
Ifin they sold this technology with sidewalls the only benefit, perceived by the consumer, is no valve stem. Big deal.
