Pzero Nero M+S (SL vs XL)

Looking at purchasing a set of Pirelli PZero Nero M+S tires. I'd like to go with 225/40/R18 in the front, and 255/35/R18 in the rear. Problem is that the fronts are listed as SL tread pattern, where the rears are XL. Is this something I have to be concerned with at all?

depends on the weather
no need to worry about that ... many cars use extra load rear tires and standard load front tires ....

Luke - Speaking of PZero M+S, I'm thinking of upgrading for the summer with ASA ST4's 18x8 & 18x9 for a 2004 S500. What do you think of the Avon Tech M550 or is the Pirelli my best value ?

Also, since my car is equipped with TPMS, is this a problem with the ST4's, other than the system wont operate?

I recently did a plus-1 upgrade of my 2004 CLK-320. I decided on only 17-inch because of the bad road conditions in Montreal where I frequently visit.

After much research, I have chosen Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S for my new tires. After about 2000 KM, I found these tires to be excellent. They are extremely comfortable and quiet. As for performance, I do not know how much interior re these tires as compared to other performance summer tires but for my driving style, they are great.

Sorry. Typo: I meant inferior, not interior.

Everyone I've spoke with has said the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S is absolutely the right tire. After I get the final word on the TPMS sensors, I'm ready for my new "summer look". Thanks for your comments.

i just got these same tires installed today (only different sizes) but i've noticed something odd, the tread on the passenger's side doesn't match the tread on the driver's side. on the passenger's side it points toward the rear, and on the driver's side it points toward the front. is this normal? i asked the guy's that put it on if that's how it was suppose to be and showed them and they said that is how they are, pointing to some writing on the sidewall that said "Exterieur" and saying that meant it should be the outside wall. anyone else experience anything like this, it just seems so odd to me

nevermind, i had a friend of mine take a look at it (he used to work for a place installing tires) they are on correctly, but it seems odd to me that they would make tires that look different from either side with the tread running the way it does...

I have had mine for over a year now. No complaints so far, even in the Wisconsin winter. Only got stuck a couple times in really deep snow or icy/slushy condition. Too bad they don't make 19" that would fit W211

I have them as well in 225/40/18 and 255/35/18. Super quite, very comfortable and great in the rain...however, compared to otehr performance tires, the sidewall is very soft and the dry handling is not that good (again, compared to summer perforamance tires). Overall, it's comfort over performance with these tires.
