Question Where to place jack stands?

I will be swapping out my rims and tires for others and need to bring my tires and rims to the other party; due to this I need to put my car on jack stands until I return with the new rims and tires (already mounted). I see where the jack is to be placed under the car but I don't see another spot close by to put the jack stands while the jack is inserted without doing harm to either the underside of the car or the side ground effects. Some help would be appreciated. (CLK 500)

Thanks,

On my vehicle, there is a crossmember, with a jack pad, that sticks out of a recess in the front of the engine plastic. I lift there then put the jack stands on the front two pads. I then lift on the rear differential and put the remaining two jack stands on the rear pads.

Thank you, very informative. I don't have a floor jack to use; my question is how to use the jack supplied with jack stands?

Just in case I can get a floor jack in time; it looks as if the floor jack is not lifting from the bottom of the rear diff casing/cover itsellf but a spot just above and in front of it, correct?

"In fact, I removed the plastic jack pad from the vehicle front cross member and listed directly against the cross member".
Please elaborate on the above, did you cut out that section of the engine belly pan and why did you not use the pad that was there?

Thanks so much,

No can do. The emergency jack, supplied with the vehicle, goes in the same place as the jack stands.

The image shows lifting from a rear crossmember, just behind the rear differential. On all future lifts I used the differential itself.

The shape of the pad was not compatible with the gold colored jack pad shown in the image. The plastic pad crushed. I like the gold colored jack pad 'cause it fit up into the engine plastic. It is for a 924S Porsche, from Performance Products.

The engine plastic has a recessed area, where the plastic crossmember jack pad is located. It is useful to have a strong implement to fit onto a floor jack to fill the space on the recess when lifting at that point.

Yikes, that's not good for me, so I must have a floor jack, no other way?

In your picture it looks as if an area has been cut out?

Thanks so much!

The rectangular cutout in the center of the depression is cutout by the factory for the jack pad which was removed from my vehicle.
