Wheel fitment for slicks on 03 S55 AMG.
Hey,
I've been trying to find a good set of slicks for drag racing my 03 S55. I've found the BF drag radials have a very light load rating and I'm a little nervous to try them on such a heavy car. I currently have 2 spare 18X8.5 rims and found a set of BF's in 245/40/18 but the load rating is only like 1235 lbs. I also found BF makes a 265/40/18 but don't think they'll fit very well on my 8.5" rims, plus their load rating is only a little higher at 1388 lbs, so, I figure there's no point in getting 2 9" rims to fit these 265's. I think that the best solution so far is a Hoosier or M/T Drag radial in the 275/40/17.
My questions are:
Is it possible to fit a 17X9 rim over the rear brakes of this car?
Do you know of which brand 17X9 rim that fit my S55 bolt pattern?
Do you feel the load rating on the BF's is heavy enough, just to use them at weekend drag events?
Thanks a lot,
Sean.
