S-03's are nice tires that have excellent grip and work wonders in the rain. But it has the worst tread life of any tire I have ever owned. Definitely less than 10k miles. Depending on how much you drive, the tires arent long term.

Yes, right , 3 weeks ago, I did change from the Rosso to PS/2 F225 , R255 18". I am planning the new wheels for my E90 due to deliver in Jan/Feb 2006.
I found the E90 stock wheels awful and I did not like runflat tires at the time I test driven it. I will replace them with OZ or ACSchnitzer 18" wheels with PS/2 or S03. :p

why not Yoko AD-07? It is a lot stickier than S-03.

i've heard good things about goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3, especially in the rain. tirerack's customers has very good reviews on them, just as good as michelin ps2.

thanks and yes, I will consider the Eagle ( not knowing so much about Yoko ), I also heard about it is cheaper and as good. PS/2 is quiet and I am not sure if the eagle is quiet too?
For the E90, I don't need too sportier tires for the E90 , nor any hard suspension on it. It will be a more comfort drive than my C55's hard suspension

I believe the RE050 come on the BMW 330 Sport. If that is the case they are rather unimpressive tires that do not like the heat. They understeer like a **** once they get hot.

I had them on my Vette. The best tire out there, I will be replacing mine with them. Even used the vette once in the snow, somewhat managable.

I don't know much about the RE050 but I don't think it is high performance tire, try the RE01R maybe. I used to have S03 on my Bimmer and it was so slippery. From my personel exprience:

S03 felt 20% better than P9000.
Yoko A046 felt 20% better than S03.
AD07 felt 20% better than A046.
DZ02G/A048 felt 30% better than AD07.

I have them on my car and they're great. The grip is incredible. The only thing is that they are loud. But they're a lot cheaper than the ps2's.

thx
look like I will stick with PS/2 as my concern is the tires have to be sticky, quiet and good for wet.

No noise w/ F1s

I have not experienced any noise w/ my F1s. They are quiet, sticky, and ride very well. There is another thread under S500/W220 that you might want to look at (Michelin vs. Pirelli for my '02 S55??). It might add a new deminsion to your search. Good luck.

The noise started as the tires got worn.

How worn?

How many miles? I drive many different streets, roads, and highways, and have yet to hear anything. Please tell me when and what I should expect.

Just replaced s03 with 050 on my 99 Boxster

actually I had the rear with S03 since the factory rear Conti Sport rear only last 15k while the front was still good when I replace the rear S03 after 14k.

I guess Porches in general wears out the rear very fast. The S03 was superior than the Contis in both wet and dry grip, less noise, and sharper response with similar wear and ride comfort. The Conti, however, was more predicable and the car feels livelier and lighter and car more willing to rotate better. I with S03 being grippier it made the car more prone to understeer but more stable.

I just had the 050 on the Boxster for 1000 miles and hasn't really broken them in yet. But so far, the Boxter gained back its neutral handling with better ride with grip level in between the conti and s03(almost as grippy as the S03). Overall, I felt more comfortable with 050 because it was as predicable and breaks away more smoothly than the S03 while providing almost similar grip to the S03.

Personally, unless you autocross or care about the ultimate grip, I prefer tires that feel better in real world driving which take in account of ride/noise/both drip and wet grip/and predictability. S03 is more violent with the rear end gets loose, I would break away thinking the car will slide a bit or rotate but instead it would just snap back when it regain its grip, to me that's could be dangerous.

I can't comment on the treadlife but when one is looking at Max performance that should be of the least concern; but if that is your priority consider Goodyear or Falkens are they last longer than most in this category.

I am driving E90 330i using PS2 tyres. 225/40/18 F, 255/35/18R. It's a perfect match to the car
