Akebono Ceramic Pads

Akebono Ceramic Pads
After driving with these pads for a month now I can say the dust is not annoying like the previous but they fade too often. At speeds of 70 and up these things fade pretty quick. I don't like them especially driving an S500. I will be removing these pads unless someone convinces me otherwise. 1200 miles on pads. Anyone else using these????????

From what I'm reading, plenty of members have the Akebonos. I'm ready to change my pads, and I was going to get the Akes too, but your post is telling me otherwise. What are you going to go with?
I don't care if pads generate dust, I just want pads that can really brake. What should I go with?

I would be surprised if you were suffering fade at 70 mph. To make any brakes fade, you need to be using them for a long period of time, and from high speeds. You might be experiencing another issue.
My current pads are EBC Red Stuff Ceramics and they are fantastic. I put them to hard use at a 2 day track session (using the original AMG rotors) and they were fantastic. They have less cold bite than the stock pads, but I experienced virtually no fade. When cold, it just requires a firmer pedal. I made repeated stops from 130MPH to 40 or 50 without any fade.
More importantly, they performed consistently throughout. Plenty of others at the event (including some with big-dollar brake upgrades) were having problems with pad deposits.
I have a set of new-in-box Akebono pads in my garage. I hope they're ok.

To test this I put back my old pads which were not badly worn out and hit 130 and no fade. I tried these again and at 110 and yes they faded. I've had this car for more than five years and I know fade when I experience it. Sorry, these pads don't catch me.

depends on the weather
they are very nice brake pads but not really considered high performance pads .. the test results indicate that they offer the equivelent friction of OE pads with alot less dust
