Should fit ok as the R129 and W126 share similar offsets and run the same lug hardwar (12x1.5). Are the wheels 8.0x17 all around and the tires staggered? I know 8.0x17 with 235/45R17 all around will work with no problems. With the 265/40R17 you may need to do some modification such as fender rolling in the rear to prevent any possible rubbing issues.

The 265/40R17 on an 8.0x17 wheel sounds like it would have a very bubbled look as a 265/40R17 tire is 10.43" wide. Your best bet is to run 235/45R17 all around with these wheels. As far a dechroming, it may be possible but I'm not sure as to any weakening effects. The 3-piece wheels would first have to be disassembled, then stripped of the chrome, nickel, copper, and anything else on it. From there you would have to have the centers painted or powdercoated, and both the inner and outer barrels polished and clear coated. It may be cheaper to just buy a set of silver wheels.
