But I'm THAT sure yet. I have read numerous articles that slotted or plain rotors perform better than cross drilled rotors. Yet, taking my stock cross drilled fronts off for plains make me think I'm downgrading.

What is your guys' take on this?

I've read/heard the same thing. Although, there must be a reason that all race cars have slotted and/or drilled rotors. They are not just trying to look cool.

I just ordered/received a set of replacement cross-drilled rotors, but I would have accepted non-drilled as well.

Hey Newt..you got to know that the Benz boy's use the cross drilled rotors for a reason...heat disapation.Sloted and drilled is even better. I think solid would be the least expensive and least desireable.

StopTech provides rotors slotted, drilled or plain. For most performance applications slotted is the preferred choice. Slotting helps wipe away debris from between the pad and rotor as well as increasing the "bite" characteristics of the pad. A drilled rotor provides the same type of benefit, but is more susceptible to cracking under severe usage. Many customers prefer the look of a drilled rotor and for street and occasional light duty track use they will work fine. For more severe applications, we recommend slotted rotors.

FWIW : I have the cross-drilled and slotted rotors on my C43-and I love them.As to wether ot not they offer a stopping advantage over the stocks I am not sure.I've also installed stainless steel braided brake lines which has improved the pedal "feel".One point I would like to make about the cross-drilled rotors - the holes in the rotors accumulate alot of brake dust/dirt over a period of time.I took the front wheels off last week and cleand the holes out and then blew out the rotors through the cooling vanes and was amazed at the amount of debris that came out - just a FYI for down the road.

When I at the Nurburgring last week we had a opportunity to go in the pit area and ask the head mechanic questions.I asked him point blank - " Why do you use solid rotors and not cross-drilled?".The mechanic showed us the carbon fiber ducting thant ran from the nose of the car over to the half-cap that covered the rotor and caliper."He want to shove as much air as possible into the wheel well and then extract it out as quickly as possible"."The ducting allows us to force the air into the center of the rotor and cool it through the vanes in the top,if it was drilled it wouldn't cool as fast."

I'm all about performance. Looks come after performance. So slotted? What kind do you have? And I also want to look into brake lines. I have to depress the brake pedal really far before it cars starts stopping. I like the feeling of feathering the brakes to get the car to start stopping.

But pads first next week and then rotors in the following weeks for me.

I haven't done them either, or rotors and pads for this matter.

But eh, I'm a guy that takes a dive in anything. So whip out the wrench.
