Carlsson 2-5 Brilliant

Hi,

A few weeks ago I thought I was content to just wait until my tires wore out, but I stumbled across another wheel that piqued my interest.

Does anybody know if I'll run into problems fitting 18x8 and 18x9 Carlsson 2/5 Brilliants on a 2002 E430 4Matic? I'm currently running AMG Monoblock 18x8 (245-40-18) and 18x9 (275-35-18) without a problem, but I think I read somewhere that the offset on Carlsson wheels is a little different.

Thank You!!

Thumbs up

As a matter of fact...the Carlsson 2.5 Brilliants will work/look GREAT on your car. I have a set of near-new 18x9 rear and 18x8 fronts with Dunlop SPORT 9000's that I am selling from my CLK55.

MACH 430, the Moderator on the CLK forum, has personally seen them on my car and they are in great shape. (Ther is a VERY minor curb scratch on the left rear, but otherwise perfect, with much tread life).

If you are interested in saving money over new, please give me an e-mail. Of course, you will be responsible for shipping costs.

THANKS!

You are lucky to use those (E55) tire sizes without having to roll the fender lips.

Isnt that 4matic cars shouldnt have staggered setup???

Also, I think the 2/5 Brilliant will look VERY small on a E. I had a set on my C32 before and they looked small. The design between 2/5 Brilliant and 2/5 Alurad is a bit different, the 2/5 Brilliant's lip is much thicker, so the spoke will ended up like 16". I think your Monoblock will "look" better and bigger than the 2/5 Brilliant.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies to my post. I too am surprised I haven't run into any problems with the current fit, and in fact requested the smaller size. When I picked the car up after having them installed the dealer had put on the larger tires. As far as the staggered set-up, the only potential problem I heard was that it might trigger the ESP/ASR. So far that hasn't been a problem either.

I also appreciate the candid remark about the Carlsson looking too small. The various comments are indeed appreciated!

New E, did your Carlsson wheels come with spacers for installation. I am curious because many Carlsson's do and that is strange especially from a Mercedes Tuner.

Hi E55 Kev,

My post may have been a little misleading... I still have the AMG Monoblocks on the car. My hesitation about going with the Carlsson wheels was that I thought they might rub a bit.

Thanks!
