Shipping wheels + Tires
Hey guys,
What is the best and most cost effective way I can ship some wheels and tires I just sold accross the country? They're 19" wheels with the tires already mounted. Thanks

When I purchase mounted tires, from Tire Rack, the wheel face is covered with soft foam, both sides are covered with a round cardboard disc and the whole assembly is held together with nylon webbing. The shipping label is stuck to the tread area or to the cardboard disc.
That works very well.
That works very well.

i shipped a set of headlights (26lbs) from boston to washington state, and it cost $45...ouch
i got a quote to ship my trunk ICE panels from boston to texas and it was $110...ouch
i tried to send a steering wheel to canada, they wanted $80...i sent it with USPS, and it only cost $20
overall, Fedex is very good for sending light items, domestically
DHL has pretty good pricing...i got 4 18" wheels and tires shipped to me for $75

If the tires are already mounted, make sure to let the air out to save the 30 pounds per tire. Most of the cost is due to that extra weight. No need to ship air when the recipient can refill them on their own.
