Sumitomo HTR Z II's on SL500
Has anyone tried these on their SL? They have great ratings at the tire rack and are half the price of michelins. Curious what people's experiences are.
My car (1999 sl500) still has the original tires. There is still at least another 5K miles left on them but i am concerned they are 8 years or so old. Do you think i should just replace them? I have heard today's tires are much quieter than what was originally on the car.
Thanks for your input!
Eric

Sumitomo HTR Z III on SL
Has anyone tried the Sumitomo HTR Z III (not the earlier versions). I'm looking for tires for my SL and noticed they won the latest test at Tire Rack - for about half the price.
Luke, Tire God, what's your recco?
I will replace Michie P/S Max (Summer).

depends on the weather
given your signature photo ... I would say these tires possess a great amount of "shock and awe" ... saying they surprised us would be a tremndous understatement ... they were remarkable in our testing ... jury is still out as far as long term results but out of the box they are very, very good

They seemed to get good reviews on the site, but there was on review from someone with a C230 that gave them a Zero?
I'm looking at the treadwear rating too...(though I know they can be subjective) but my BS 050A PP's only lasted 10K miles on the back...
Fuzion's are completely out of stock in my size, and I'm thinkin' maybe these new Sumi's are the way to go?
What sayeth thou, now, Luke of tirerack?

Jury is still out on the HTR Z3 ... but, I have not been hearing horrible things to date ... I would expect to have more info soon as spring has arrived and many more "summer" cars are coming out of hibernation

HTR ZIII
Any updates from anyone on the Sumitomo HTR ZIII's.
I am thinking about getting these for my 97 E420, although I running 18 inch AMG E55 staggered Monoblocks. I was getting ready to get these, then I saw a very negative review from someone with a 2003 E class mercedes - see attached
My tire size is currently: 245/40/18 fronts, 273/35/18 rears. I will primarily use this car for southern california freeway driving...
