2 different size tires on a S600AMG ?

Just got a 2002 S600 AMG and it has 275 on rear and 245 on front. Is this right ? Wheels look deeper on rear too..

BENZ
Hahaha yeah dont worry about it... Basically all benz come staggered which means that the fronts are diff width from the back... The 275 adn 245 indicate the width of the tire and the two digit number is how thick the sidewall is... Well yeah dont worry about it!

03 E500 and Corvette
I had the same issue on our E500 when I bought new michelin's at the dealer. They put a 245x40x17 on the car when the factory tire was 245x45x17. I wasn't sure this was ok even though they were new.

I emailed Michelin direct and got a suprising response. They told me the 245x40x17 did not have a high enough load rating and I was overloading the tire. Investigation into the side wall markings showed the 245x40x17 load rating to be 1310# and the 245x45x17 was 1550 # or (allow for last 2 digits to be off due to memory). This was a net difference of 400# total load capacity for the front alone. Given 4 tires this would reduce load capacity by 800#'s which means with 2 people in the car the tires would be in overload. I took the car back and had the correct load rated tire installed.

You might want to confirm the load rating on your tires to the door placard to insure you have the correct size/load rating even if they do fit on the rim.
