Can My C230 Wear SL500 Avior Rims

I was looking into changing my OEM wheels on my 2005 C230WZ with SL500-style wheels on my car. The ones I was looking at are the 5-spoke Avior

style.

But I do have some questions. There's a website that has a set of replicas

which are made in Italy. They're selling them for $474.00 (free shipping) for 4 of them, and they claim they meet all of the DOT, TUV, JWL, etc standards. They have this Avior style in 17" size. But here's my issue: My C230WZ has 17x7.5 Front and 17x8.5 Rear wheels. These apparently only come in 17.7.5" size, so no staggered width. I don't think this would be a problem, but I would prefer to keep the staggered sizes, and I like the wide look on the rears.

The ebay link for these wheels is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-Me...spagenameZWDVW

And their page (which has less description) is: http://www.wheelsandcaps.com/mercede..._specials.html (last one on the bottom)

To maintain the staggered widths, I was even thinking about maybe going to the original SL500's 18" size. However, I ran into this posting on the forum from over a year ago, https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ighlight=Avior and C240-Merc and E55 KEV mentioned that the offset as well as the lug bolts on these were different than the C-Class. They wouldn't recommend it.

But I ran into another auction that had these OEM SL wheels, and it showed them fitted to several cars, including a C-Class. The page also provided recommendations on tire sizes for each appropriate vehicle: "C Class 202/203 series using 225/40R18 and 255/35R18 and replacement bolts." It's here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=006

So it appears that it would fit a C-Class, as long as you went with the tire size recommendations and got replacement bolts. But I'd like to read anyone else's opinions, including Luke over at Tire Rack. Should I go with these 17" replicas for $399.00 and lose the wider staggered width in the rear? Or should I go with original 18" SL wheels and do the recommended tire sizing and replacement bolt thing from the above auction?

My original goal was to get a winter Wheel and Tire package on Tire Rack, getting their plain ole $99.00 rims, with some all-season rubber from them. But when I seen these SL-style for the same price, I figured, why not. Then, what I'd do would be swap the tires on my OEM rims (which are a bit scratched), put them on these SL-style rims, then get some winter rubber from Tire Rack, and throw them on my OEM rims.

But, because the SL replicas only appear to come in the same size F/R, I might have to get 2 new rear tires that match in size with the fronts (225/45's vs what I have now: 245/40).

Finally, I happened to find a pic of someone's C-Class with the SL-style wheels. Not sure if these are replicas or original SL. They do look larger than 17". Does anyone know who's car this is? I'd like to get more pics, as well as more info on what actual wheels the owner has on this car.

Thanks
