Fender Rolling

Fender Rolling
Hey, I have a 2007 CLK 550 and ordered some HRE C21 18x8.5 F and 18x10 with 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 tires, which I might have to rolled my fender to make them fit. Has anyone rolled their fenders? Did do it yourself or paid a professional? If you paid for it, how much was it? Does anyone know a reputable shop in the Chicago area that will do it?

I had my fenders rolled yesterday. Unfortunately, in these cars it makes very little difference. They are already rolled pretty flat.
My rears are still rubbing, so going to try increasing negative camber slightly.

I thought about it, but they are rubbing so badly, I have decided to buy another set of rear tires (255 instead of 265). Sucks, 'cos now I have a pair of tires with about 30 miles on them which I can't use.
Anyway, I guess the lesson here is to be careful if you decide to go with Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S tires..... they have a big ol' shoulder on them which may give you a fitment problem.

Weird. A lot of guys with 235/40/18 F and 265/35/18 R don't really have any issues with rubbing when they have their fender rolled. Could you take pictures of your fenders? I want to see how bad the rubbing is.

Well, there is really nothing to see; no marks or anything. But they would rub going 40 mph over even a very mild bump in the road.
And yes, I have had 265/35/18 tires on my car for years. First I had Toyo T1S and then Fuzion ZRi. I never had the slightest problem until I got these Eagle F1's

Or get the tires test fitted before you buy tires.

Problem is that you may not know if you have a problem until you do some real driving, and after mounting plus 20 -30 miles of driving, the tires are "used". I have NEVER heard of a tire shop allowing you to do that.
In any event, I always buy my tires from Tirerack, so it didn't apply to my situation.
Interesting idea though.

All right, the wheels and tires are installed, and the only rubbing that I noticed is the front wheel. When I turn it all the way, it rubs against the inner well by the front bumper. The rear is fine with stock springs/suspension, but I'll probably get it rolled once I get my springs. I'm running 235/40/18 F and 265/35/18 R Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec.

When it comes time to replace your tires, think about getting Toyo T1R's.
They have a very "rounded" shoulder which will probably eliminate the rubbing completely.

I talked to a very experience guy about that. Since the rear is 10, it's rubbing against the part that can't be rolled. So far, he said that it won't be an issue because I never have people in the back anyway.

I know exactly the part he is talking about. Its where the two body panels join. It can be trimmed a tiny bit, but probably not enough to make any significant difference. Again, though, the rounded "shoulder" on the Toyo's will probably not rub.

Excellent performance tire with a moderate price. Good grip in both wet and dry. Only criticism I have ever heard is that the sidewalls tend to be a little soft, but that is only a factor if you are into track or autox.
