Question for Luke: W209 Tire comparison/recommendation
Hi Luke,
I have an 05 CLK500 with OEM Michelin pilot sports. Car currently has 17k miles and already needs new shoes. I'm looking for A/S tires that would give me longer tread life with the similar handling characteristics in a price range of about $150 per tire.
I've looked at your web site and I'm giving consideration to the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S or the Eagle GT A/S. Can you advise on which of these tires would be closer to the Michelin and best for everyday cruising and occassional spirited driving. Also if you feel you have a better tire for me to consider let me know.
If your wondering why I don't just go for the Michelin PS A/S there are 2 reasons. One is poor treadlife the other is cost.
Thanks

depends on the weather
There are 3 to think about
Eagle F1 A/S
Potenza Re960 A/S Pole Position
Pilot Sport A/S Plus (new)
but, none of them will perform as well as the Pilot Sport. The Eagle would be closest in performance, the Micheling ride nicest, and the Bridgestone is a good blend of performance and ride
