Wider wheels/tires on a C32

What is the widest rubber I can put on my C32? I currently have the stock Michelins with 225/45 and 245/40 on 7.5 and 8.5 17's.

1) I'm not interested in the ridiculously low-profile look.

2) I want the correct diameter (or close to it).

3) I don't want to rub fenders or suspension or have alignment problems or any of that.

3) I want MORE CORNERING POWER!

What about 18's in the sizes the E55 uses? (Although I believe those are a tad too tall for my car.)

I read in a post here somewhere that 255/40s would fit in back - that would be marginally acceptable (+4%).

I suppose that if AMG coulda put bigger rubber on it, they woulda?

For that car go with the 19"s! I have a friend at my dealer who is leasing that same model but he changed the wheels to 19"s with 235/35/19F and it think the rears are also 235/35/19's. Looks awsome!

depends on the weather
the tire size for a C32 is basically the same as a CLK55 so in 19 235/35-19 front and 265/30-19 rear works very well. In 18" a 225/40-18 front and 255/35-18 rear is a great combo with virtually no difference in diameter

Luke would 265's fit on 18's?

Being in Chicago, I scared to see how low profile 19's would be in the city's infamous potholes. I love the width though and I want to go as wide as possible without using spacers. Thanks.

265 will work depending on the setup. If you're running 19x8.5
or 19x9. You might have to roll the fenders??

Hi!

For my C32 I went with

8.5 x 18 w 225/40 front
9.5 x 18 w 255/35 rear SO3's

largely because I worried about 'the ridiculous low-profile look' you mention, but also because some of the roads are rough round here too!

I've only done 250 miles, (the dealer fitted the Brabus rims for me before delivery- v. slight fender mod), so I can't tell you about cornering power, but the dealer says the ride is unaffected, and I'm very happy with the look.

Pictures at the link below, so you can check whether you'd prefer 19", but remember UK cars are a bit lower than US - (by less than an inch, I think.

Enjoy your C32!

jswedburg,

I'd be very interested in buying your 17" AMG split/double spoke rims if the mileage and price were right.
