Factory Lug Bolt sizes for 05 E500 W211..?

Recently ordered a set of lug bolts to mount with my new wheels... The new lug bolts came as 14x1.5x25mm but when I measure them up to the stock lug bolts, they are shorter by about 2 threads, or I'm guessingb about 3mm... When I put one through the wheel, they threads only stick out the backside by about 3/8" - 1/2"... When you consider that the threads in the wheel hub are slightly recessed, it just doesn't seem to be enough thread there to hold right... What's the stock lug bolt size for an 05 E500 4-matic W211...? I think I need 14x1.5x28 mm minimum...

OK, so no one replied so I researched this some more myself. Stock lug bolts are 14x1.5x25MM. They fit the stock wheel fine but I'm now running a MRR GT1 wheel and they apparantly have a slightly thicker mounting flange than stock so the stock lug bolts are marginally too short for safety (IMHO)... I ordered a set of 14x1.5x28MM ( typically Volkswagon and Audi sizes) and they have 3mm more thread to work with...

Lug Length

Hello, not a MB expert on OE length. However as an engineer typically if you have more then one thread exposed on the far side of the hub when the bolt is fully torqued you can trust your connection. The additional length beyond that is merely installation convenience up to the point of interference with the brake/suspension.

Just my 2 cents worth

Another 2 cents. If the stud is fully seated in depth equal to the diameter of the stud you probably have enough penetration into the flange. Extending beyond the flange does nothing to strength. So if your stud is 14MM and has at least 14MM engaged in the flange you probably are ok. I would like a stud to use for wheel mounting. I know there is a wheel installation tool (basically a stud in the spare somewhere) but I wanted an extra for my shop. Do you know if the thread sizes are the same on the 500?
