SL launch edition wheels fit a CLS?

Was wondering if these wheels would fit my CLS550

front rims 8 1/2x18 ET35, rear rims 9 1/2x18 ET40. Came off a 2003 SL500 Launch edition

I find it hard to believe no one has put SL wheels on a CLS... My dealer seems to think it cannot be done. I think it will fit. Anyone?

Actually it looks more like 10 F and 12 R from that post. Tape a cigarette pack to the inside of your F wheels on the front. Turn your steering wheel. Repeat for the F back. Did it get smashed? Voila. Now devise a method for the rear.

You'll likely need spacers to make it work.

The higher offset will move the wheel & tire toward the center of the car. 10mm = approximately 3/8" and 12 mm = approximately 1/2", so you'd be losing a fair amount of clearance. Losing that much clearance will likely cause the tires to rub unless you add spacers.

i will as soon as I get back. Away for the holidays. Rear end looks a lil too tucked in and the 255 on a 9.5 inch rim doesn't help the case.
