Anyone with CL55 Wheels to sell?

I have a 2003 CL500 and would like to replace the stock wheels with the AMG wheels that came with the CL55.

I live in the Philadelphia area. Is anybody looking to sell theirs?

I have W220 CL55 / S55 split spoke staggered AMG wheels with very nice Michelins ... and am located in Montgomery County, PA ... just north of Philly. Feel free to drive to my place ... use my floor jack ... put them on your car, and see how you like them.

Offset critical

1. Make sure that the offset of the wheels you are going to purchase match the specs of the car or you WILL have suspension and driveability problems. If you look carefully in the owner's manual it should list the offset.

My CL55 takes a 43 or a 48 offset - I'd have to check. The CL500 uses a different offset so the wheels do not interchange.

Most recent MB and aftermarket wheels use a 30-36 offset. Take it from me they will not work no matter what kind of spacers and such you add.

2.Your MB dealer has a wheel catalog published by MB - you'll have to ask the sales or the parts department - that has the correct wheels for your vehicle and model year. I would get one of these before I made any purchase. You can probably find the AMG (look in a) wheel that is suitable for your vehicle.

3. Remember you may have to have a realignment if you change wheels.

Offset can vary, depending if you are using non-staggered vs. staggered wheels. As an example, my wife's S500 came with non-staggered wheels, but can indeed use staggered. In that case, the offset AND WIDTH WILL be different. Of course, the owners manual provides information on all model variations, so a knowledgeable individual will be able to confirm proper wheels. Then again, looking on the wheel for the proper casting number will do the same as well. MB's photo albums of available wheels do not provide the part / casting number. Since wheels can and do look alike, you go right back to confirming proper width, offset (etc) in the owners manual.

As for the offset on others ... you may be referring to the interchangability of the SLK / CLK / C-Class, and W210 E-Class ... then again, they too can offer staggered and/or non-staggered wheels.

4Matic's (regardless of model) cannot utilize staggered wheels.

Your car sure looked FAST just sittin' still with the CL55 wheels mounted. Thanks, and enjoy! Don't forget to check www.MBCA.org for membership consideration. Use referral name (where prompted) of RAY MANG. I hope to see you at a future MBCA event.

BTW - I just received notice that the original owner of the Gullwing 300SL recently passed away, as per MBCA Delaware Valley newsletter.
