Slight Vibration
I recently had new wheels/tires put on my car. They balanced out perfectly and everything was great. I drove home from school to my parents house for this weekend and noticed a slight vibration in my steering wheel. It's not significant but it's enough to annoy, if I look at my forearm I can see it visibly shaking from holding the wheel. The shaking starts at about 50mph and gets slightly worse with speed.
I drove all the way back, they checked the balance again and said it's perfect. They had installed one of the tires backwards though and fixed it so they were assuming this was the problem. It wasn't...I still have the shaking.
I've done a lot of research and this could be a few things:
1. Defective wheel or tire...this seems unlikely since I would think the wheel wouldn't have balanced so well if this were the case.
2. Hub centric rings..these wheels are AMG reps but maybe they still require the rings? I dont know..I know very little about this kind of thing.
3. The balancing equipment this shop is using just isnt very good, and I should bring it to another shop and get a road force balancing done on a Hunter GPS 9700.
I'm thinking of just bringing it to either my MB dealer, or another tire shop instead of going back to the same place for a third time. What would you guys do first? Which of the possible problems is the most likely?
Again, its minor, but def noticeable. The steering wheels shimmies slightly..maybe a millimeter or two from side to side. It also seems to smooth out once in a while, then start shaking again. Repeat, Repeat.

I would do the hub rings and have someone else check the balance again. Not the dealer! Just a 1/4 ounce in just the wrong placement can produce what you are experiencing. Good luck with it, Mike
