Forged 18" wheels
How vulnerable to getting bent by potholes are these wheels with 245/45 tires? Are forged wheels better protection against this risk?

depends on the weather
forged wheels are stronger than cast wheels so, they would be less prone to pot hole damage

Remember that most two and three piece wheels that are "forged" only have forged center piece. The rims are rolled and not forged and hence not as strong. One-piece forged wheels are the lightest and strongest wheels on the market. I don't know of that many, Renntech, a couple of new BBS wheels, and I noticed that Car and Driver said that the wheels on the SL55 were forged AMG wheels.

Anyone else know of forged one piece wheels?

Yup, the 2003 S600 wheels are forged, and light, too. Only 21 lbs vs 29 for the AMG's.
