2002 C320
Wheel Lug Torque

This may be noted in the owner's manual, but seeing as how I'm still waiting for the car, I'll ask anyway....

I purchased some aftermarket wheels for my C320 and was wondering what the torque specifications are. I've been told 80 and 90...so i'm wondering what the correct setting should be.

Thanks!

I just checked my W203 manual

on one page it says torque to 80ft lbs (the general consensus on this board.. yes i've done the search)

..two pages before that it says torque to 110 ft lbs

I torque the wheels to 81 ft-lbs. Unless it's an ML, S-class, G-Class, or CL, then it's 110 ft-lbs.

depends on the weather
here is a good chart to use for torques specs because it is critical to consider the hrdware size

Hardware Size.....................Torque in Ft/Lbs

10MM ..........................45-55

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12MM...........................70-80

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

14MM............................85-90

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7/16"............................70-80

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1/2"..............................75-85

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9/16"..........................135-145
