Question Wheel Cleaning Problem

Hello All,

Well I've got a problem here with my ML500. I took my ml to the local car wash and after they cleaned the car they put a wheel cleaning solution on and now the rims are stained black. My question is what is the best way to get the black off? I've tried a few cleaners and it removes a little but it doesn't get it all. Thanks in advance.

Go back to the car wash and give them hell. Don't stop until they agree to get it fixed or to replace your rim. Other than that, if you're desperate use some simple green or some GOO GONE.

depends on the weather
believe it or not WD40 is a very good cleaner

and remember in life you only need 2 tools:
WD40
Duct Tape

if it's supposed to move and doesn't use the WD40
if it's not supposed to move and does use the duct tape

Thanks

Thank you guys for your quick and informative responses. I'll have to try the goo gone and simple green. Luke, are you sure that wd40 won't damage the rims? Well thanks again.

Luke,

I am very surprised to hear you say this. I have heard this from another board member, however I thought WD40 was corrosive.

Is there any chance of WD40 damaging the clear coat of the wheels? How should one apply it to the wheel to clean certain spots? Do you just use plain water to rinse off??

depends on the weather
spray it on and use warm soapy water to wipe it off but, do not let it sit on there for a long time ... I have used WD40 to clean all sorts of things including my own wheels
