Upper Control Arm Bushing Change?

Has anyone ever changed the upper control arm bushings? How long do they last?

Is it hard to change them?

Jeff

My C class needs a lower control arm (bushing) changed or something like that. An independent Benz specialist is charging $500. Is this the right amount?

Woah! That sound a little expensive to me. Granted my Mercedes Benz mechanic is a friend of mine but I paid around $300 for the installation of my H&R Springs, Bilstein Shocks and new control arm bushings. The Benz shop is in Winnetka in the San Fernando Valley so if you need a good mechanic, please let me know...

I have to get the lower control arm bushing done on my C class too. But $500! Damn, that's a lot of money. I too want to know how long they typically last. I'm wondering if they're covered under my Starmark warranty. I don't think they should screw up at only 50K miles.

They typically need to changed at around 80k miles is what I have been told. 50k is a little soon, do you drive your Benz hard?

Sometimes I get a little excited and do some aggressive driving, but nothing that would warrant suspension breakage. I'd say about 90 percent of the time I drive it easy. So what do you think? If 50k is too soon then I would think Benz would cover it. I'm taking it in for it's 60k service next week and find out.

I would also assume that Mercedes would cover it but I don't know the details of your warranty. If you are still covered under the bumper to bumper extended warranty then I would make Mercedes change the bushings free of charge. Starmark warranty is not one that I am familiar with so you need to check the details. Good luck...

I looked over the warranty papers for Starmark this morning and it says that both the lower control arm and upper control arm bushing are covered. So I will take it in this week for 60k service and get it fixed.
